View Full Version : Wav. to MP3 HELP!!

JMJ

I'd like to convert some re-edits that I have on Soundforge so I can email them to other countries and planets. Postage to Neptune is a bit expensive. They are stored as wav. files right now, but I need to turn them into MP3's. Downloaded a free Wavelab demo yesterday, but it won't save anything. Any ideas??.......JMJ

Get Streambox Ripper. It does it in a snap.

CLick on "Save As" within Sound Forge and choose mp3 as you file. Within the setting of the mp3 format you should be able to choose the bit rate you want to use such as 96,128 and so on.

Peace

And try www.download.com, (http://www.download.com,) just search for "wav to MP3" and you'll find little programs that do well their job.
Most of them are free, but you have to dig 5/10 pages and try 2 or 3 of them to get the one you needed.
I'm on a mac so I can't help you on the choice, but found 2 easy programs with line command which worked very well and did not make any problems due to the fact that they were not affiliated to soundforge, soundsomthing or quicktime, just MP3 code and no tags.

That's where I got the Wavelab demo that didn't work. I might have to check there for something else. Merci.......JMJ smile.gif

There is plenty of freeware out there - I use a program called "MP3 to Wav Ripper".

If you go the freeware route, make sure you also get Spybot (if you don't already have it), b/c many of these free programs are sponsored by adware programs.

go to preferences. go to the recorder. select the encode rate. close the preferences.

go to view, select recorder. you will see another window open up. check off the tracks you want encoded. click on start.

presto - you will have mp3. if you want i can walk you through the process over the phone.

Jay that version is like a free trial version and it doesn't have the advanced elements as 5.0 or 6.0.

Thats the version (4.5) I started with and believe me that version is harder to use.
Remove that sucker from your PC and try to get someone to give you a copy of 5.0 or 6.0 and you will see a major difference in making edits.

If no one in the chi will hook you up holla back!

Therefore you end up spending more time trying to get it exactly right.
