Let's go bck to the basics for a minute. Maybe it's the heat, but I'm now reexamining the basic guidelines.
How does one throw a good house party? As in, in your house?
Love to hear DM's response, of course, but I'd like to solicit ideas from others, as well. This should be fun.

1. Liquor
No party really gets rolling without liquor-loosened guests. Have PLENTY of beer/wine/liquor. Don't buy it all yourself. Have people bring shit. And weedsmokers. ALWAYS invite a few weedsmokers. But not too many. You don't want your party to be dead silent except for munching, giggling and snoring.
2. Environment
An effective house party environment is a two-headed beast. Firstly, there should be an area of your crib that supports a bubbly, social mixer; with interesting, engaging people from all different experiences. Secondly, there should be a area of your crib where people can get their freaky, fool-ass dance on.
I threw a pajama party in '89. All of our DJ equipment was in the basement. People danced downstairs and socialized upstairs. We had 2 beer balls, five half-gallons of liquor and mad trees. I was thowing cats out at 8:30AM. People STILL talk about that party.
Good luck.

One of the people on the board reminded me of a party i threw 15 years ago. In the snack bar on the beach. I opened the doors, and we were cooking burgers. That came out of my paycheck, but the fact that there is a collective memory of it out there, 15 year later, is priceless.
So you gotta definitely have good food...
