When I am not enjoying a book I am reading I give up on it. I recently started reading Black Water Rising by Attica Locke but I didn't care enough about the characters and the plot to continue so I stopped. Why spend my time reading a book I'm not enjoying when I could spend the time reading something else to my liking.
Does anyone else leave a book uncompleted if they are not feeling it?
If I am only a lttle way into it, I can walk away. But more than that .. I finish it.
I absolutely started to hate Prep (curtis sittenfeld (sp?)) but I felt like I had to finish it .. my friend and I split a flat in paris for our vacation and we were each reading books on our beds, and I was yelling at mine... and then threw it in the garbage the minute I finished it.
but I couldn't not finish... :biglaugha:

every now and again.
i try not to, but sometimes i do feel it would be time better spent if i just quit reading it and move on to another book.

damn my academic hide, but I have developed the ability to finish books I hate ...survival. Still, if I am just reading for pleasure, I certainly will stop. Depends on what's specifically bad about it and how much bad stuff accumulates...too much = never finish.
Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned, for instance...finished the hardcover but was sooooo annoyed by the damned thing that I tossed it in our wood-burning stove and was warmed immeasurably by its immolation!
I have also, at least twice, delivered marked up copies of badly edited books back to their editors. Proofreading really isn't that hard nowadays. Really.

u didnt find the idea of eliminating every man in this world as an interesting premise that Anne Rice brought up?
I was an avid Vampire Chronicle fan but by Queen of THe Damned it did get kind of stale...regardless, i find the series one of the best in that genre
