Chicago Bulls point guard Jay Williams is hospitalized in Chicago after suffering injuries in a motorcycle accident Thursday evening, the team has confirmed.
A Bulls spokesman said the club will not reveal the exact nature of the injuries until the extent of Williams' injuries are determined. ESPN's Ric Bucher reports that Williams suffered leg and pelvic bone injuries, and The Associated Press is reporting that Williams broke his leg. The team won't verify those reports.
"He's OK, but to the extent of the leg injury, we don't want to speculate,'' Bulls spokesman Tim Hallam said.
Williams' father, David, said his son was expected to be in surgery for three or four hours.
No citations were issued as a result of the accident. Team spokesman Brandon Faber said Jay Williams recently bought the motorcycle.
Williams, the second overall pick in the 2002 NBA draft, averaged 9.5 points and 4.7 assists in a somewhat rocky rookie season. At times, the former Duke star clashed with Bulls coach Bill Cartwright over the restrictions imposed by the triangle offense.
Recently, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Williams, 21, might start in the backcourt next season with Jamal Crawford, the Bulls' other point guard.

It sucks because they were going to trade him and the number 7 pick for the number 3 pick in the draft(Carmelo).

to me it sucks because as a person i hate to see anyone get hurt. i've known someone who died as a result of a motor cycle accident. he's lucky he just broke a leg and not dead.

secondly, i was hoping he would elevate his game next season. know this may slow up his developement.

Suntimes said he flew 10 feet off the motorcycle. Hit the ground and was yelling that he couldn't feel his legs.

I'm very, very, sorry to hear the bad news about Jason Williams from Duke/Chicago Bulls, and Plainfield,New Jersey, This kind of reminds me of two other cats with links to not only New Jersey/And Basketball, But, Having to survive from near fatal accidents while they were still playing basketball, And those cats are Dave Rivers and Bob Hurley, Both from Jersey City,NJ, and Both attended/Played for St.Anthoney's High School(But at different times), Dave Rivers was a passenger in a van in 1986/87 when the driver of the van(Former Notre Dame cat named Ken Barlow)lost control of the van, And the van hit a tree and Dave Rivers was thrown out of the van(He was not wearing a seatbelt)and almost passed away on the spot, But, God was definitely on his side that night and Dave Rivers worked very, very, hard to get back into condition to continue to play his Junior year at Notre Dame(And Rock hard), and get drafted into the league by the Lakers, Even though He lasted one year with the Lakers(Cats were Bugging not giving him a chance), Dave Rivers has been a star player in Europe for many years, Now, Bob Hurley went through the same thing Dave Rivers went through in 1995, His first year with The Sacramento Kings, But, Bob Hurley was the driver and a cat was driving down the street with no lights on(This cat was crazy drunk), And Bob Hurley did not see him coming and was thrown out of the Jeep he was driving(Again, Not wearing a seatbelt), And almost passed away right there, If not for a teammate who seen his Jeep in a ditch and the cat(I think his name was Mike Peplowski)drove Bob Hurley to the hospital, Were once again, God looked out and Bob Hurley had the strength and courage to get in condition and continue playing for the Kings, But unlike Dave Rivers, Who never lost a step, Once he(Dave Rivers)recovered in college, Bob Hurley clearly lost alot and it showed hard(I felt very sorry for the kid), And he had to retire a few seasons after the accident, 3 New Jersey cats(Dave Rivers,Bob Hurley,Jason Williams)who happen to excell in Basketball, 2 former cats(Bob Hurley,Jason Williams)who had all the notoriety
and fame/success that any college cat could ever
get, It just seems very strange that these three cats have so much of a connection on and off the court. I hope and pray that Jason Williams can regain his health and continue playing for Chicago(Or anyone else), But, I'm very, very, glad to see that he has his degree(Graduated in 3 years)just incase he cannot go hard again(Play again).

Say Manfred, The last time i heard about Ramon Ramos from Seton Hall, He was doing well, And living in Puerto Rico, Ramon Ramos did work at Seton Hall in the late 80's, And, I heard while Ramon Ramos was at Seton Hall he was a Dean's List student his last two years there, Student first, Athlete second, I wish alot of cats would look at it like that.
