Greetings,
We are back at it again for another look at some of the talented and up coming producer’s from Smooth Agent’s home town Chicago with the Chicago EP part 2. For this sequel we wanted to dig a bit deeper into the chi-town flavor of house music with a 6 pack of dance floor goodies. Along for the ride this time we have producers Gene Hunt, Sean Smith, South Of Roosevelt, Mel Hammond, Bai-ee & Bruce Ivery.
Gene Hunt feat D Griff "A Space"
This Chicago DJ legend is a man who needs no introduction. His music has been supported by many DJs & artists from Theo Parrish to Gilles Peterson. On “A Space” Mr. Hunt teams up with D Griff to bring forth a nice late night conga driven groove to get the heads going.. Fans of Gene’s releases on labels such Philosophie & Unified records will love this.
Sean Smith "Left 4 Dead"
Smooth Agent’s "boss man" chooses to get in on the action with massive deep tech grooves with "Left 4 Dead".This tune has marimbas, spacy synths, sub bass & dubbed out vocals that will not leave your feet left for dead. This is for those that loves the dark, spaced out groove..
South Of Roosevelt "To Be Somebody"
Known for their releases on Home Schooled, Juiced Music and Flapjack, SOR brings their flavor of Chicago House with "To Be Somebody". This one shows a deeper side of SOR while still beating the club down with their trademark sound. Smooth chords, a lush melody and fierce percussion show that SOR are definitely somebody..
Mel Hammond "Colorflash"
Mel has been on hiatus in regards to producing but he returns in a big way with "Colorflash". This tune is part of what makes this ep diverse. It's a track that is a hybrid of early Chicago Acid meets Soca. Quite a crash coarse! At 135 bpm (regular speed) you can play it with Dub-Step, Kaduro & Batucada. It you slow it down you can used it for your Afro House and Broken Beat.
Bai-ee Feat. Dirty Turk "The Yeah Track"
Up and coming producer Bryan “Bai-ee” has released music for labels Poontin, Liberate and Smooth Agent. Working with Bai-ee is east coast native Dirty Turk known for his session work with Mateo&Matos , Scott Wozniak and Jay-J. “The Yeah Track” is a nice mid-tempo groover with stomp and a bit of unsyncopated sleaze. Add an accent of female vocals alongside Turk tickling the ivory and you got a tune that can easily work on the dance floor..
Bruce Ivery "OMDSMS"
South Sider Bruce Ivery from the Chicago Chuck Bros crew is immediately making a name for himself with his releases on the Stilllove4music imprint. With “OMDSMS” Bruce lets it be known that it is not a Chicago house party with a lil bit of disco. Heat and then some is what Mr. Ivery brings here. Hopefully this one will satisfy your disco soul as much as it does ours….
We hope you will enjoy this most extensive & diverse package.. Come start this ride with us where house music was named, bred and buttered - in the Chi...
