I am gonna buy a DVD player, and I watch tons of foreign films and vcd's.

I want to start buying and renting them in DVD and what not, but I dont wanna dish out 70-100 for a player that wont play the stuff I buy.

Any tips of what to avoid and what to look for?

I have seen these "region-free" players, and I am guessing thats what I need, but wanted to see if anyone here has had good or bad experiences with em...

Thanks!

Try www.nerd-out.com. (http://www.nerd-out.com.) they go into which players can be hacked for region free, macrovision, etc.

How's the Chi treatin' ya, buddy?

Chicago has been a blessing. I've been able to see alot of the djs I could never see in p-burgh without making the hectic hike out to nyc...

just make sure that the dvd player you get plays both ntsc(north america, etc.) and pal(europe, etc.). these are the two main versions of dvd's. you should be able to find a player that can switch back and forth. peace.
