I am moving soon and I've decide to get rid of all the promo bullshit I got from labels over the years, like the 6 copies of Foxy Brown's "Chyna Doll" LP and the 4 copies of Yvette Michelle's wack single, 3 copies of some Avant 12", etc. Most of it has never even been opened or played.

I know that Discorama used to buy promo vinyl, but to be honest, you couldn't {i] give [/i] most of this stuff away. 85% of it is just no-name R&B artists that got dropped from their label soon after these records came out.

I don't expect to make much money but I figured maybe there's somebody that would give me $40 a crate or something. Am I dreaming?

sell them to a record factory so they can melt them down and makes new ones.

slice them up into coasters and sell them as high "found art" for 5 bucks a pop.

i don't have anything else constructive. :D good luck!

your best bet is to take them to a thrift shop or one of those old music stores we all walk into every now and then to see what we may come across. You definitely won't get much but at least you're already facing that reality. Good luck!

save 'em(get a small storage space), and next year from april to october, check out the weekend street fair circuit...set up a turntable, play the ones folks wanna hear from the 500 12"s, mix the stuff you wanna hear also...you could also sell mix cds...they will sell and it may turn to be quite profitable....

hmmmm....I think I'll take my own advice...and if y'all bring up that bootlegg issue again...FU!

Good luck..

halcyon does about $50 a crate for domestics but dunno about r&b...it's a thought though.

i like ray's idea...all DJs should set up a street fair to sell all their unwanted records! battle!

but 138, it does make sense! not sure if it would be profitable per se...but probably still worth the action. pretty much everything is recycleable i believe.

Good luck.. Thanks Ray, This is actually a good idea, but I don't really have the energy. At this point, I am considering just leaving them in milkcrates on the corner of Dekalb & South Portland.
