I played at a party on the beach in Rosarito on saturday with Onionz from NYC. He went on at about 1:00 am. He didnt stop until the sun came up. His set was amazing. If you new york heads haven't seen him, check it out. If any of you NYC people know him, tell him the crowd in Mexico wants to see him back soon. Have a great day.

Doesn't his style cater to the rave scene?

Onionz is one of the best DJs in the world....he's played a lot of "raves"...but he's always played house, and done it with enough of an open mind about what that means to drop breaks or vocal house or whatever it takes to make people lose it on the floor...."raves" in North America were not N-Joi live in Manchester...DJs like Onionz, Joeski, Derrick Carter or Mark Farina were playing soulful music period....and they were turning on straight white suburban kids to black gay urban music....that's the revolution....without these guys exposing "ravers" to real house music I don't think it would have evolved as much as it has.
I'm still fairly new to this board, so unless "caca" is one of those internet abreviations for "certified as completely awesome" on the dex, then I'd have to disagree with Mr. Diaz... graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

Then we're talkin' real soul. http://deephousepage.com/smilies/smokin.gif

I guess I don't get the joke or understand the criticism...whichever the case....unless this is about that guy who was trying to promote his radio show...that was one thing...using a few adjectives to paint a picture of a DJ set is another...
"Doesn't his style cater to the rave scene?"
This is what got me going I guess.... ;) I tried catering to the rave scene once....unfortunately I overestimated the demand for my pheasant cheese dumplings and cucumber stuffed radish....couldn't even give them away to those ungrateful little punks...
Anyhoo...I'm going to give the Deep House Elders Council a little credit and assume that you've been talking about Onionz'z mastery for years and no longer need to rehash his soulfullness...
If not...we could learn a lot from the Mexicans.

A lot of guys here have obviously not heard him live!Im not huge on latin house but ive seen Joeski and onionz before and theyre good.Im more into soulful, jazzy vibes but when i seen him in glasgow he ripped shiet up(and btw it was not a rave)! He plays a kinda deep perccusive vibe with the odd latin vocal shout, not a heavy vibe at all and not really techy either. He Plays stuff like Taka Boom,Ediie Matos ,Blakat ect!He can get a bit more percusive but hes got his own vibe and hes doing the rounds over the world!Respect to anyone who can do that. Some fuikin dudes just dismiss before theyve even heard someone.Probably because they seen a flyer with the name at a certain event or night and automatically associated them with a scene.Hes played in scotland a few times and the place hes played have been well respected for the quality they bring over!
