Cracker vs. Crackah

FYI black folk, only white folk are allowed to use the word cracker. What you hear us calling each other is "crackah", and there is a big difference. Even "crackah" should only be used with permission from the targeted white person, as we may not even be comfortable with you using that term unless granted permission from all white people.

seems like some people are proud of their cracker heritage.

this term was applied to whites by whites. its origin is not certain. one theory states it comes from a celtic word meaning loudmouth or braggart. there is the method of corncracking, grinding the corn to make grits.

the disparaging connotation associated with this word was only created as late as the 1960's & promoted negatively through the media & film, again by whites.

there are similiarities between black floridians & crackers. they share common traits.

to imply that the word cracker has the same sting towards the white psyche as does the n word towards Blacks is ludicrous beyond belief.

what is really mind boggling is the co-opting of the n-word by whites to include them as part of its meaning:

"Used as a disparaging term for a member of any socially, economically, or politically deprived group of people" (The American HeritageŽ Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition)

so now the n word is reduced to nothing. anybody can be a n-word. in that case anybody can be a cracker, or if everyone is a n-word, then blacks should not have to ask permission to use the word which would make your whole point moot, which it does because you're just trying to start shit.

the term cracker does not apply to people where i live.

i'm a little beat so i'll come back to this later.
