Haven't been to an amusement park in a minute but one of these days I would love to join a Roller Coaster Enthusiast group.

That Roller Coaster "X" at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern Cal has to be the illest thing out there IMO.

I went on Magic Mouintain's version of Coney Island's "Cyclone" and it's pretty damn near the equivelant of the original. Great ride!!

Collosus is boring, reminded me of Roaring Thunder at Great Adventure. I'm not a big fan of "out and back" roller coasters, I prefer twisters and Steel Coasters.

Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey has been coming up in the world of Amusement Parks and they got a nice selction of rides now.

Since the early 90s when they got the Great American Scream Machine, they really turned things around.

The Viper, the West Coast Equivilent of the Scream Machine at Magic Mountain is one of my faves. But the one ride that got slept on at Magic Mountain was a ride called the Backlash. I'm not sure if it's still there or not but this ride had my ass in stiches. I was screaming like a you know what and laughing my ass off at the same time. Any ride that can make me laugh is a ride with getting on again and again.

Peace

It's this kind of industry approach to having fun that makes having fun such an industry.

I wanna get off.

Rollercoasters aside,

NOTHING beats a classic Coney Island Himalaya ride. Back in the day that had two Himalaya rides at C.I. The regular one, with a DJ booth, and another one across the way called the Super Cat. The Super Cat had a canvas (hooded roof) that converted over your head (like a car roof) when it rode.

Speaking of the DJ booth at the regular Himalaya ride, here are some classics the DJ played:
1) Love Rollercoaster, Ohio Players. A given.
2) Way Out, Steve Arrington. First heard it, though, at Great Adventure.
3) Anything by Slave.
4) Remember "Love Take Over" by Five Star. My favorite of them all.

Any DJ's do the Himalaya gig at CI?

I havent rode a rollercoaster in about 20 years. Damn! Dumb, ignorant question, but is the Runaway Train still at Great Adventure? The last time I went to GA, Rollin' Thunder and Lightning Loops were the new s***. I know I need to get back to an amusement park, fast!!!! Peace.

If they did I'm blowin up the spot. Remember that when Great Adventure first open, it had a theme of an old abandoned Miners Town. By far one of my favorite rides, ahhh the memories.

Lightning Loops, who can forget that ride.

Roaring Rapids,
Looping Starship,
Serajevo Bobsled (I always wanted to get on this ride, but the got rid of it to fast)
The Buckaneer
Joust a Bout (another ride that had me in stiches)
Free Fall
Parachute Purch
Ultra Twister (WACK)

Who remembers the name of Great A's first stand up Roller Coaster, a M_therf_cker on your nuts when you got off that ride.

Peace

I know it's not a rollercoaster, but it relates to theme parks:

Remember Jungle Habitat? I think it was not to far from the Jersey Shore (Jersey Heads, correct me on that one). I remember the commercials for that park. Buggs Bunny used to be a spokesanimal for it. Good Ad.

Remember when it closed. I think the animals were being starved BIG TIME! Peace.

Tragic rememberance. When GA's Haunted Castle caught on fire (1985?). Eight students from Lane High School in Brooklyn were trapped and died. graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

It was never used again and they never knocked it down as far as I can remember.

In Busch Gardens, Wmsburg, VA. The Avalanche rocked my world. And at Dorney Park & Wild Water Kingdom, Allentown, PA. The Steel Force has a 205 ft first drop and gets up to 75 mph.

Haven't been to a rollercoaster park in a while. My kid wouldn't do Six Flags in LA, so I had to settle for a bogus water park in Palm Springs.

check out this page http://www.geocities.com/wcoasterpoll/scprs02.htm

according to the poll, i rode the world's 'best' coaster three weeks ago :D http://www.expedition-geforce.de/. 82-degree drop from 65 metres with a 78-degree twist - the only ride that can beat that one is TT Dragster (probably will win this years poll).
