I played at a b-boy battle last weekend and it was dope!!!!! I even played some deephouse classics like:
Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes- Tell the world how i feel about cha (cut up)
Talking Heads- Once in A lifetime (cut up)

There was such a good vibe that i even did some moves myself, and had to run back to the turntables to blend another record.

This was the best dj-experience in years graemlins/grinyes.gif

I've been attending a local b-boy night here and it's supprising how much of the music overlaps with what I play... more than 50%. Once in a Lifetime is a standard for these cats, Funky Nassau, A Little Bit of Jazz, Goin to See My Baby, Hot Music, even Space Bass.

The best part is when they turn me on to something I didn't know, a recent example being the Jackson Sisters - I Believe in Miracles.

The stupid part is that these guys call their night hip hop/b-boy night and they pack the house with cool party people and fly women on a Monday night, but if I do a weekend night and call it disco, I gets 10 frat boys in afro wigs!!!

HAHAHAHA, my point exectaly.
Over here in Holland you dont get to play most of the anthems because the only place i get to play classic deephouse stuff is at dance classix parties. But at those parties they wont dance unless they know the tunes (Relight my fire and shit). At these battles i can play whatever i want as long as the beats are thight.

I even played Liasons Dangereuses when some guy did electric boogie. It seems like the B-boy thing gives me the chance to tell the story of 30 years of "black" music history even more then houseparties do. But that is just over here in Holland
