It is that time again....it is time to Come Together and let the music unite us. Back in April, over 205 of our friends came to Sumo for the the Proper Drumsong Experience with Thomas Fultron, Sean Thomas and the Wamdue Expereince.
This time we have teamed up with Breathe* and their resident DJs to give you an amazing line up of DJs and give- aways.
And for the FIRST TIME EVER IN PHILLY................
DUCE MARTINEZ
Previously a Break-Dancer and part of the DYNAMIC BREAKDANCERS he traveled around the world performing with the legendary Fat Boys – RUN DMC and Grandmaster Flash. Break dancing was to become a big stepping stone for Duce’s musical dreams as dancing gave him appearances on network shows such as Regis and Kathy Lee, and cameo appearances in a number of movies like The Last Dragon, Fast Forward, Beat Street and That’s Dancing.
Once part of the famed partnership Soul Creation, Duce amassed a resume that resembles a who’s who list of outstanding recording artists: T La Rock, Fearless Four, The Treacherous Three, Just Ice, King Sun, Lauren Hill, Ted Mills (Blue Magic), Raw Stilo, India, Kenny Bobien, Barbara Tucker, Su Su Bobien, Stephanie Cooke, Joi Cardwell, Colonel Abrams, the late Sabrynaah Pope, Michelle Weeks, Dawn Tallman, Cassio Ware, Theo Gerideau, to name a only a few.
Fast forward to 2010 and Duce is all the rage, fresh from resoundingly successful gigs in Italy where he riveted club audiences and left them begging for more of his hypnotic style of DJing. He was nominated for IDMA 2009 song of the year “People make the world go round” and his smash hit on Vega Records, the re-worked Just As Long club classic by Love Committee tore its way to the top of the charts and proved that Duce is a force to be reckoned with. . Darryl D’Bonneau’s new hit “Pateince”, “Don’t be Afraid” by Kenny Bobien coming soon on Tribe Records and “Freeman” on Vega Record and Krystine Walker’s “Give me the Reasons on Grei Matters are among his future releases.
CHRIS UDOH
Chris started his professional journey in 1985 at the age of 16 in St. Louis, MO. where he played various clubs and had his music featured in several top fashion shows in and around the region. In 1989 Chris moved to Atlanta, GA. and started a 3 year residency at Atlantas legendary Lorettas nightclub. A few years later Chris met Chris Clark a.k.a. Deep C in a record store and the two quickly became friends. Each of them, along with producer Chris Brann, went on to form the Wamdue Kids. The trio had numerous club hits on such notable labels as Acacia, Studio K7!, Sounds, Guidance and of course, Strictly Rhythm. Chris moved to Philadelphia in the fall of 1996 to test new waters and found himself in very good company in the city of brotherly love. He quickly became one of the citys most respected DJs. In 2000 came the formation of Tigerhook Corp., a Wu-Tang type collection of like-minded DJs and producers that really boggles the mind. Spearheaded by the highly energetic Randal Jones, this crew of nine has releases on prestigious labels including The End, Oblong, Siesta LTR, Shaboom, Hooj Choons and even Bedrock. Chris Udoh has traveled the globe extensively. Most notably, he held a two-year residency at Fabric Nightclub in London from 2000 to 2002, playing at the club over a dozen times. Currently, Chris has taken time out to concentrate on solo productions as well as collaborations with other electronic dance music artists.
