TEK: You'd be surprised at what I've dug out of Freeman Street! It's a treasure trove if you know what you're looking for. I got I Want To Thank You by Alicia Myers for 50p last time I was home...
Lol its a pity theres nowhere to play all this great music in GY. I've tried asking around but noone wants to know. I should try and get round the owner of willys or swigs [as I used to work there in my uni days]and see if I can play in there for a couple of hours a night. Surely all the old musicheads can't have dissappeared altogether.

I have tried - the problem always seems to be finding a venue - The owners know that their punters like the cheeky girls but they've never heard of pepe braddock, sean escoffrey or kenny bobian and neither do they want to know. The grimsby house music appreciation fraternity doubles when you come home Bill. I'll keep looking though i'm determined to show GY a decent night.

Matthew LOL - The beating heartland of house music!!! - So now theres 3 people in the county that appreciate decent music. Nice to know there are others that are into the same thing. Small world eh? Do you find it hard to get hold of any decent tunes from shops rather than the web. I just find its nucleuz stuff that everyone stocks round here and as for decent nights its pretty poor without travelling miles.

Matthew Bill Brewster [LBG] is a grimsby boy and Mrs Mangle from neighbours came from there. I was stood behind Chubby brown the other day who lives near me. I was born in new waltham near grimsby escaped to derby, then to nottingham, sheffield then to thatcham/newbury then to reading and spent a bit of time in london. I moved back cos houses are cheap as chips and I was sick of paying 1.5k a month on a room in someone elses house. Nightlifes a bag of sh1t the areas nice...i'm growing to appreciate the countryside.

Matthew Big up the North East Lincs Massive! Don't forget that Nils Hess of Get ****ed is from GY, too, and his bro' Hans, who runs UCMG. And, not forgetting Carmel, Corinne Drewery from Swing Out Sister and the greatest of them all: Rod Temperton, co-producer of Michael Jackson's Off The Wall (and I'm old enough to remember him chiselling a living playing at the Nunny Tavern!)

Here are some of the 12s I've picked up in the last couple of weeks - mainly from Salvation Army so $2...
George McCrae - I Own the Night (Gold Mountain/A&M)
Pushe - Don't Take Your Love Away (PartyTime)
Three Million - I've Got the Hots For You
Alicia Myers - You Get the Best From Me b/w I Wanna Thank You (MCA)
Alicia Myers - Appreciation (MCA)
Bonnie Pointer - Your Touch (Private I)
Brainstorm - Hot For You (Tabu)
Dept. of Sunshine - Rude Boys b/w Space Tropics (Rappsody) Instrumental (Elektra)
This is such a hot record - early 80s protohouse/dubby new wave disco produced by Steve D' Acquisto...
Ecstasy, Passion & Pain - Touch and Go (Roulette)
Just found this today...actually have a poor sounding bootleg of this, I must admit.
Was Not Was - Tell Me that I'm Dreaming (Souped Up Version)(Island)
Cappuccino - Cappuccino lp (Black Sun)
A second copy of Womack & Womack - Conscious of My Conscience 12" on Island
Tia Monae - Don't Keep Me Waiting (First Take)
Jamaica Girls - Need Somebody New (Sleeping Bag)
Betty Boo - Catch Me (Sire)
Great David Morales house mixes on this '92 12" from pop-house flavor of the (long-ago) moment Betty Boo...
Thats all for now...peace, domo

There's a great track on here called Her Story. It was also sampled by the Roots on their last album.
