Rob, tell Sven to check the record. He has that one for sure and that seems to be the reason why he thought he knew it!

Any help is highly appreciated!!! The second track is definitely the MAW dub of One Step Ahead by Debbie Gibson - a stone-cold, amazing classic...

That is why I wrote Germany, not Europe, Groove.
I do work in a record store and I would bet my whole money that not even 1% of the kids coming thru have ever heard of that mix. Sad, but true. Even the big cities in GErmany are a differnet matter than, let's say, Paris or London. I don't like the situation, but that is how it is. The clubs in Germany that play the kind of house music we like to hear on a regular basis are to be counted on one hand.

Peace,

Gerd

Groove, you have to remeber,we have a lot of ex-techo heads here.I also forgot to add that a lot of the heads in Euorpe who are digging this stuff here are a lil younger than us.Just educate em bruh.

I still understand your feelings.I have had some folks ask me about some common shit too.Hell,we were like them at one time too mane... :D

That wasn't meant offensive, Groove.
It is just so damn saddening over here.
Jamie is right, most of the kids are into techno over here and it is nearly impossible to get soem attention for house, when it is not the same lame and usaual ibiza-french-filter-happy-go-lucky-shit.

Have done it before with friends. And not only once. There is no use in doing so. At least not on a weekly basis. Although I do play quite a lot, it is most of the time very unsatisfying. Except from one spot called Robert-Johnson. Together with two friends I play there every six or eight weeks and those nights are the best it can get for me over here. Btw, DHP member Ngeso will be our guest on saturday.

Peace,

Gerd

Because at soem point you will notice that you have to play in a way that you never wanted to, to keep the people's attention. You just notice that your style isn't theirs. What wouldn't be that bad, if you knew that there are at least some places where "deep house" is really played which isn't the case at the moment. All you hear is either plain, hard and uninspiring techno or the so called "electroclash" which some of my friends are refering to as "Hitlermusik".
For example, I played out on friday to do the warm-up for quite a well-known dj over here. Before me played another dj who liked his pitch adj. on plus 5. Although I didn't go way down with the tempo, I was asked three times, if I play "chill out music". And belive me, I was not. Or would you consider "Hip To be Disillusioned Vol.1", "Elements Of Mood Vol. 3" on DNH, K.O.T. "Harrell" and DJ Gregory as such?
I could go on and on and on...

Peace,

Gerd

...wow, a few days not visited the deephousepage and then this big reaction smile.gif
Thanks to all for the help id-ing the two tunes here! I really appreciate that!!!

Some people were surprised about my track id of the "One Step Ahead":

what can I say, I am from Germany! That should be "excuse enough"!!! ;) just kidding... ;)

I haven't found too many good sources for "deep house" here in Germany back in the days...and that's probably why I have missed a lot of excellent tunes (like those 2 tracks for example) from the early 90's. But this is no problem for me as long there is the possibility to make up the missed stuff - and it's good to know that this place here helps when it comes to track ids... thanks again!
