Warp Warp, Mr Do's Castle, Dig-Dug, Jr. Pac Man, and Centipede. I know that this will sound crazy but a couple of years ago I aquired one CD-Rom with every coin-op game ever made on it. When you consider that the size of those games back then you may be able to imagine how. But I dug it up as soon as I saw this thread.

Defender is my favorite.Defender 2-aka Stargate is my favorite of all time.

Man, I was the first one in my hood to flipover Defender. Stargate, I could play for as long as I wanted. I had the big-ass ship and smart bomb (which meant ten) and little starships and little smart bombs across the board. I had inviso across the board too. I used to love the starship showdowns (every 10 stages) with the fireballs, mutants and the little small things with the tails. My ultimate was gathering humans and collecting the 2000 points at the end of each stage when I landed them before the next one started. Jamie, I am going to find a Stargate in Chicago, and let you know so we can play the hell out of it together. By the way, I hated when the arcade owners would speed up the game so that it was impossible. I eventually got good at those sped up games too.

Space Invaders game set for new U.S. invasion
Friday, December 5, 2003 Posted: 12:22 PM EST (1722 GMT)

TOKYO, Japan (Reuters) -- Game over? Think again.

Japanese game machine maker Taito Corp said on Friday it plans to restart sales of "Space Invaders" in the United States, almost 25 years after the game first appeared in video arcades.

The classic arcade game centers on a fleet of invading aliens looking to take over earth, but they must first deal with a lone gunner -- the player -- holed up behind a fragile set of shields.

It has been one of the most popular video games of all time since it was developed in 1978.

"There has been a rebirth of classic video games in America," said Taito spokesman Kengo Naka. "We thought it would coincide nicely with the 25th anniversary of its debut in the U.S."

Taito aims to sell 10,000 of the stand-alone game machines at 300,000 yen (U.S. $2,772) a unit.

While the game will not change in this latest offering, inflation has taken its toll. One play will now cost 50 cents, compared with 25 cents a generation ago.

Since Taito no longer has operations in the United States, the game machines will be made through an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) agreement with game software maker Namco Ltd.

Namco, which also has it own classic video game, "Pacman," will handle sales of Space Invaders in the United States.

Space Invaders game set for new U.S. invasion

TOKYO, Japan (Reuters)

Game over?
