I have had many Cd's that got recorded with a "skip" on the track. I think it all depends on the quality of the Cd. Sometimes those cheap ones that come in packs of 50 are not worth it. I've tried the Verbatim brand and that one seems to record flawlessly - no skips.

Defrag your computer, and close any unneeded software. How fast is your computer (megahertz/ram, how big is your hard drive?

If you are using a stand alone burner (especially consumer grade recorders) you can get a skip(s) in a song(s) during recording if,
1. The recorder get bumped
2. If the speaker causes the unit to vibrate
3. If you push the button on the unit to index a track change and you push the button hard enought to make the unit move / slide.
