mmmm bringin back the Florida memories now...

Rodney O & Joe Coolie, MC Shy D, Luke, JamPony, AfroRican, Magic Mike, Clay D, etc etc etc....

damn....

everlasting bass was a REQUIRMENT if you had a system in your car. You had to have that, at least 2 Magic Mike CD's, at least 2 CD's that said "warning, the bass contained on this CD could be harmful to your speakers" and then Keith Sweat's "make it last forever" CD (for the dates).

Ahhh good times.

Peace

Dude in the hat is General Jeff. Man, Joe Cooley could cut shit up on the wheels!!! My personal fave was the flipside of "Everlasting Bass", "Your Chance To Rock".

"GO AHEAD, GET BUSY..."

Ahhh good times.

Peace see...that's why you're always feening to go back to Tampa... :D all those day-glo painted minipickups slammed with the hammers or 5-stars with "bass cannons"....Techmaster PEB was my thing back then (early 90s) and what about "Bass Patrol" who hailed near Orlando? they had an album out on joey boy records (???) with the cartoon depicting them in a mini pickup truck with one of the guys spinning in the bed loaded with woofers while the other guy in the duo with the microphone? they were best known for "30s and lows"...

other acts i remember...

Party Boys (Darryl Underwood had that group on lock...they used to be based somewhere on armenia ave.) he used to have a stall on the now-defunct floriland flea market selling all those homemade tapes recorded on "my first sony" tapes.

Bass Style: Tampa mix crew that collaborated with jampony on 1993's "let's flow"...Rated R got his early kicks here

Bass Boy: one of the spinoffs from techmaster's newtown label...cheezy.

def bass crew: another act out of the newtown roster hailing from ft. lauderdale...the epitome of cheezy rhymes!

Miami Boys

Dj Laz/Boys From The Bottom: "boom i got your girlfriend"

check your email...

M.C. Sparky D Maggotron were one of the premier acts during Pandisc's early days...James "DXJ" MCCauley did a lot of the drum programming and keyboards for them as well as other acts such as "Smokey Dee" around 89 or so...DXJ was a pioneer with that Miami electro/bass sound starting with early singles on the "Bound Sound" record label such as Ose's "Computer Funk" and Sonarphonics "Superbreaker" around 83/84 respectively.....you got me thinking back of the days of "the bass that ate miami" and "Street Wars" (a blatant takeoff on cybroton's "clear" melody)..

Uncle Jam's Army did the mixshows for now-defunct KDAY in Los Angeles which is said to be the first 24-hour hip hop station....this is where Russ Parr started to gain noteriety with his parody group "Bobby Jimmy and The Critters" of "Roaches" fame...
