Had a good chat with DJ Camacho last night about "The Industry" and some of the more colorful characters around.

First off I have to give the man my upmost respect for his skills as a DJ/Producer and for being an all around good man.

The Mission nightclub is in the basement of the club and this guys comes in and gets out of his wheelchair and slides down the stairs to enjoy a night of music.

I am amazed at his love and commitment to this scene especially in light of his recent surgery.

I thank you Camacho for being an inspiration to me and others and keep doing your thing man.

graemlins/respekt.gif Couldn't agree with you more JD. The minute this guy is out of the hospital, he is right out to the club supporting his friends/DJ's. They don't get much more dedicated than that

I don't know the man but I remember the discussions on here regarding him and his health problems and I'm "happy" to see is moving on with his life.

There are sooooooooooo many people who think this is music their "life" that don't really know what that means, this is an example of someone who is truly a house head through and through.

Much respect Camacho.

Peace

Rob

Such a great guy, a fine host when I visited NYC many moons ago. Had the pleasure to return the compliment here in the UK soon after, much respect - a true gent - as this story confirms - a person with great spirit, passion and love for music.

One thing you gotta admit about Camacho he at
least tries to reach out to the up and coming
dj's. Other folks who haven't been dj'ing half
as long as Camacho don't even give you the time of the day. graemlins/respekt.gif :D

...and the guy's been around since Central Park was a houseplant!

I remember Dave playing at Klub Kyamm(sp?) in Irvington on Springfield Ave. in the early 80's, when I was a freshman in high school and they wouldn't let me in. Even then cats were like, "Yo, that's Camacho." Whether it's pulling your coat to some hot new gear, handing you a CDR of some blazing out-of-nowhere shit or feeding you info about the ins and outs of the game, Dave is always very supportive and helpful.
