CSPAN's Washington Journal is discussing this issue. Oh, My God!!!! If I'm late on this, my bad. This is awful. I'm sure that CSPAN will post the discussion on their website later: www.cspan.org. (http://www.cspan.org.) graemlins/jpshakehead.gif
And the guest (Louise Hogarth directed the film "The Gift") is indicating, based on her research, that this is a worldwide phenomena.

There are a group of individuals ,who are actually
looking foward to contracting , this deadly virus.
You are absolutely correct. I saw this s**t on one of the cable networks.(could have been newyork 1
or cnn) It dosen't matter, the idea that these people who wanna get sick, actually call it the gift. Man listen this world is coming to an end real fast. P.S I saw the same or almost the same report you saw months ago......... graemlins/scared.gif

Folk who are engaging in this consider contracting HIV a "rite of passage". And I thought trying to get gang colors were bad! Do these people realize the negatives of HIV:
1) the sickness itself
2) the expenses, combinations and side effects of the medications
3) full blown AIDS itself
4) death
is faaaaaaaaar worse than anything they can ever dream of? A schoolteacher of mine once told me "ingorance is a terrible thing". graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

I would class this as one of those useless "news stories" that are designed to distract people from real issues. The five companies that control most of the mainstream news just love this sort of thing.
And I've read and seen various permutations of this "story" for at least five years.
ahh, the bare-backing posse.. Well, I do not have any problem with those guys contaminating each other, but I think it's not right that society should pay for their medical costs afterwards when they need treatment. I dunno what it is like in the States, but I think overhere in Europe, where the phenomena exists as well, that would be the case..

I saw something related to this phenonmena on the show ER when two gay men were in the hospital taking tests. One of the men already contracted the disease, and his partner was there hoping that he also caught the disease.
Love concquers all............
