Mister Saturday Night is back from summer vacation, rested up for a big night out at our most favorite place, the always-homey 12-Turn-13 loft. Every Mister Saturday Night we do is important, of course, but this one is especially so.
After a stretch of matrimonies, family getaways and other odds and ends, Eamon and Justin will be sharing the turntables for the first time in almost two months. As solo jocks they’re both exceptional; but the finest Mister Saturday Night moments come when they’re tagging through the night, with Eamon’s pristine technique and ability to create a long musical narrative spiked by Justin’s out-of-nowhere selections and penchant for crescendos.
Our guest tonight also makes this one special. Mister Theo Parrish is one of our favorite DJs, period. He is unabashedly possessed by music, throwing everything but his records to the wind when he plays. You’ll hear everything – out jazz, techno, rare soul 45s, and probably some of those edits that make the hair on our arms stand straight up – the same ones he’s promised he’ll never ever release. To our knowledge, Theo’s never played in a loft in New York before, and that’s something we’re happy to be a part of presenting. If he can make a concrete box seem holy, lord knows what he’s going to do at somebody’s house.
All the other pieces are in place as usual. Beer’s on us for the first hour of the party; the roof is open for chatting and hanging; and the soundsystem will be sublime. Get tickets for this one early: the limited $10 tickets will be gone a couple weeks before the party; and this’ll no doubt end up filling up… For good reason!
