This track was done around '96. Great production by Arif Mardin (of course!). Me'Shell N'Degeochello (sp) comes in on the bridge late in the song. Why wasn't this a top ten hit when it came out? Oh, I forgot, the industry thinks Chaka's too fat, too Black and too old. (whatever!).

I got the single. The original version is hot, but I am NOT feeling any of the remixes (even the Frankie Knuckles). I think it's on her "Epiphany" (Greatest Hits) album.

I think that on the bridge, they use elements of Chic's "Rebels Are We". Nevertheless, what a hot tune. Peace.

I always felt that song never got a fair shake. It was a jam and deserved much airplay! I liked the original version much better than the Frankie Knuckles remixes they played at the clubs at the time.

I enjoyed Frankie's remix, he had his "Classic" style going throughout the production. The piano work is pretty nice!!

Peace

A1 Never Miss The Water (Franktfield Club Mix)
remix by Frankie Knuckles
A2 Never Miss The Water (The Classic Single)
remix by Frankie Knuckles

I believe the Classic single is the one with Terry Burrus on the piano. A rather Gospel feel to the music. Very nice.

I believe the Franktfield Club Mix has a more "modern" feel to it. For some reason I have "You can't have your cake and Eat it to" by Brenda Taylor on West End going through my head when I hear this particular mix.

Peace

Definitely a classic! I picked up two copies a few months ago for .50 cents each. http://deephousepage.com/smilies/smokin.gif
