On the heels of the extraordinary success of the first KEEP ON DANCIN' in New York City in January 2009 and the last two years at Miami's Winter Music Conference, we are finally back in New York City on SATURDAY AUGUST 21, 2010!
KEEP ON DANCIN' is a fundraising and HIV/AIDS awareness event dedicated to the memory of MEL CHEREN. Mel was affectionately known as “The Godfather of Disco” for his championing of DJ’s, dance music an...d club culture in the early days of the Disco Movement. Mel was a tireless activist in the fight against HIV/AIDS, the CEO and founder of West End Records and the original financial backer of The Paradise Garage.
The event is named after Mel Cheren's autobiography "Keep on Dancin' My Life and the Paradise Garage." which was made into the documentary, "The Godfather of Disco". Proceeds from KEEP ON DANCIN benefit three organizations that were important to Mel: AREA, GMHC, and LIFEBEAT.
We will also be celebrating CHRISTINA VISCA's BIRTHDAY!
