Hey Guys

I have been working on a new track this past week and really keen to get your feedback again on whether it is worth persisting with or not:

http://soundcloud.com/jayswift/lost-soul

I seem to have a major problem with losing perspective after working on a track for a few days - everything starts sounding shit and I no longer know whether there is any value persisting with it... So many of my tracks have gone in the bin due to this issue. :mecry:

As always, your time listening and feedback is hugely appreciated!

Cheers
J

the shakers came on a tad too strong i think..i maybe wrong.. the stabs were a lil muddy in the mix..i think this has potential..but it needs a better mix..couldn't hear most elements clearly.

Hey Tatsama

Thanks a lot for listening and the feedback. I think you are right, after another listen I do think the shakers come on quite strong. I will pull them back a bit. Further to the muddy stabs, did you mean the ones kicking in around 2:33?

Cheers

theres one synth starting at 1:00 min and one at 2:33min..both sound a lil muddy in the mix..question of eq and also the shakers/hats would be eating into their freq ranges i think.hope this helps.

Hey JaySwift,

This is a great track my friend. To get rid of the muddiness on the synths (and the whole mix) just cut somewhere around 300 to 500 hz and a high pass filter to give your bass and kick more breathing space in the mix. A low pass filter around 16khz will do the trick for the shakers. BTW this is my opinion, and maybe my monitoring may be wrong :wtf:.

Thanks so much Nightshade! I have just given that a go and it sounds MUCH better indeed! Amazing! After completing all the edits I will post it back to Soundcloud so you can hear the result.
