If there was a cat that can write pop music, it's the Brazillian legend Ivan Lins. He doesn't get the ink like Jobim or Sergio Mendez, but his music and compositions are certainly up there with those two. And if you noticed, Quincy Jones has a fetish for this guy's music.

Got some favorite compositions of his:
1) Velas
2) Comacar de Novo (The Island)
3) Septembro (Brazillian Wedding Song)
4) Dinorah, Dinorah
5) Love Dance

I would hope that this generation of composers would check out some of Ivan's compositions. Maybe they'll learn how to write some real good pop music. Peace.

I had the opportunity to catch Mr. Lins LIVE at the Manchester Craftsmans Guild here in PGH. ****ing amazing show and music. Are you hip to Djavan? He's got some wonderful music himself. A little more in a jazz vein. And I KNOW you gotta know about Joyce, right?

If it was possible to wear out a cd, then I just about beat my copy of Joyce's "Feminina" to death. I've been putting a hurtin on my copy of "Elis and Tom" as well.
