Oprah employs a lot of blacks..makes movies about blacks (giving further employment to writers and directors) funds scholarships for blacks..etc...she has done more than her share

and most of all she is a role model...her success has helped blacks galore

as far as the argument of chasing white dollars...given the fact that most businesses in the world are white owned we are ALL in one way or another chasing white dollars - whether it be working FOR whites as a peon or as an alternative choice for their spending dollar its all the same

i myself prefer the latter as it allows me some small amount of individual control of by destiny through entrepeneurship

i think that there are some who reach out and do a lot of good with their newfound wealth, tiger, oprah, david robinson, marcus camby, spike lee and so many more...the comment that its about self is so untrue

sure their are cats who forget but they are overshadowed by those who do give back

as far as the argument of chasing white dollars...given the fact that most businesses in the world are white owned we are ALL in one way or another chasing white dollars - whether it be working FOR whites as a peon or as an alternative choice for their spending dollar its all the same

I would imagine oprah is in the 3%. This is insanity & will lead to our eventual self-destruction. I have no reason to believe otherwise. Man has outdone himself, he’s at the point of no return & nothing can stop the tsunami. Evil will self-destruct, but unfortunately the weak & helpless will be catch the most hell.

I think the responsibility towards the uplifting of any community ultimately lies in the hands of the wealthy. They are in a better position to provide what is necessary for its citizens to live in a peaceful & stress free environment, free from the burdens that underdeveloped urban centres provide. I think this is a requirement because it is the morally correct thing to do. It is the greater good & must be adhered to.

I also have a problem with the measuring stick people use to determine success. Happiness comes from peace of mind. It cannot be measured in dollars or status and I think that’s where things have to change if we are to evolve. Don’t get me wrong, I like money. money is good for good purposes & we all must exercise prudence & develop security where our livelihoods are concerned.

while i am for more progressive tax rates and wealthredistribution (mainly thru inheritance taxes and speculative investment gains) i don't feel we should go overboard with personal taxation

and remember..oprah was po...she made it, so can the next woman/man
