if you clowns were paying attention over the past 9 years you would know that the current fiscal climate is a result of major blunders during the Ghouliani administration. First and foremost of which was the mayors acquiescence to the commuter tx cut (he was at the time considering a senate run and didn't want to alienate upstate and LI voters.) He also lowered taxes on stock and financial transactions which also lowered revenues to the city. Simultaneously he never did anything to address the structural deficit of the city of NY. Lastly their has been a decrease in aid from the state especially in the areas of health care (medicaid and hhc) and education ( massive cuts by governor Pataki)

maybe if cats like yourself paid more ATTENTION we would have been able to avoid this morass

the time to be politically involved was THEN not NOW ( and please don't tell me you vote - your statements obviate your political lack of knowledge)

it aint that hard to stay informed

Bloomberg is reaping the results of a poor economy and poor management of the city's finances by a previous administration

Blacks andHispanics vote in underwhelming numbers. Yet they are the first to ask WHY?

WHY?

Cause your dumb asses don't vote. When a community takes part in the political process things happen or don't happen. The repeal of the commuter tax is KILLING NYC right now. The major recepients of the effects of these cuts will be blacks and hispanics through the loss of health care services, firefighting, sanitation and sadly teachers.

The major parties involved with the repeal of this tax were Sheldon Silver, Pataki and Ghouliani who let a small NYS congressional race lead to an economic blunder of mass porportions.

Yet blacks and lkatinos stayed silent.

Dig it . Many services of a safe city are enjoyed by middle class whites from suburbia who work here yet don't want to pay for the services they recieve here. As a test try this - go to a park in Nassau county or westchester and try to be a non resident who wants to enjoy the "services" - they'll ask your dumb ass for proof of residence and then politely turn your stunned ass away. See they get it, and they are politically powerful. Conversely check where a lot of attendees at NYC fairs and concerst in the park and theater and sporting events come from.

Try doing some research on the comparative subsidies given to the mass transit sytems of NY and LI - you'll be stunned to learn NYC residents foot a lot of the bill there - why?

Look at comparative tax rates on homes in white and non white areas of LI - why are the wealthiest in some cases paying the same as thee poorest?

The economic is politic and cats need to wake the **** up

sorry for rambling a bit as i ranted.....in this day and age political naivete and ignorance are more than a little disturbing

think, it ain't illegal yet

being this is the case i too will consider any convo with YOU regarding NYC politics dead and a non starter

btw..i'm one of the "clowns " who voted him in - and he's making the best of a bad situation. Americans always want their tax cuts AND their government caviar - it don't work like that

think, it ain't illegal yet This is excellent information, i can see this happening because folks are ignorant to whats going on. Maybe folks feel that these things are beyond there control and dont make the effort to educate themselves on how they are being taken advantage of. This does not make it ok to be uneducated.

Im sure most situations are geard towards the more afluant people in society because they have the most to loose should they slip up.

Cant argue with the truth your right man.

Soooo, ask yourself this question, if he is doing such a horrible job, how come you don't see any of his opponents who ran against him, bad-mouthing him...or any other politician for that matter? Matter of fact, with the decks stack against the city so much, what would you suggest? I hope they pass that commuter tax....it's about time the Jerseyites, Long Islanders and folks from Connecticut stop coming here and raping the city of it's resources and running back to their suburbs scott-free.

So before we start bad-mouthing the guy, understand what's really going on....he's doing the best with what that bastard Guiliani left him....it seems that the Republicans has turned their backs on him and the city....he's making the tough decisions that regular career politicians would not do.....do you realize that he cut the Arts funding by 10 million dollars and then turned around and donated 10million of his own money to the arts....get the facts, before we run off at the mouth.

peeps need to be informe

the point about the Dennis Rivera led unions is excellent

and lastly, Pataki is a disgrace as a governor - he has done nothing to invigorate this state and has gotten a free ride from the press for his administartions role in massive corruption (Javits Center, pardons of politically connected FELONS, SUNY Westbury land and building scandals etc.)

You put an ignorant--in the true meaning of the word, Unaware or uninformed-- comment on the board, and when folks take you to task with coherant conversion you get a complex and stick your head in the sand like the cartoon bird.

Make it be known, from this day forward, I will not participate in any thread, or make any comment, to any of your input on this board, because it seems you get a little too sensitive, and you grab me as a guy that may take things like this into real life encounters....soooo, just to keep the peace in the real world with you, Tah-tah.

On a side note…..

I go to do my taxes, filing in Jersey. Florida does not have a state income tax (meaning you file Federal only). Jersey, for the money, I made last year, while not living in New Jersey, Not generating my income in New Jersey (while still working and living in Florida), not having the power to vote in state and local Jersey elections, nor using any of the services provided by Jersey, is “Legally” taxing my ass on the money I MADE IN FLORIDA, while I WAS LIVING IN FLORIDA and not New Jersey.

Real question, WHAT THE **** IS UP WITH JERSEY?

That is taxation without representation.

If you see loads of tea be thrown into the Hudson this week, it wasn’t me.

Im ****ing pissed!

Maybe so, and that maybe debatable, but what about my other points. He only takes this type of stand with certain people here...I don't have to name names, do I? If the comment did not come from Markbe, everything would have been a-ok.

Typical dialogue:

RR: I love ice cream.

Certain Board member: I really hate ice cream.

RR: You guys always have a problem with me...blah, blah, blah....Do what you want, I'm out!

....should I go to the archieves and bring back the proof? I rest my case.
