Does anyone use a DJ agency to get work, i've been looking into some of these and they seem like a pretty good idea, i'm just looking to find out other peoples experiences of using these services good or bad.

I'd say that unless you have a 'name', however, modest that name is, they are a waste of time. Even if you do have a reputation on some scene or other, they are largely a waste of your time. They're good if you've got some experience behind you and a big-(gish) record out. There's a world of a difference between an agency accepting you on to their books and you actually getting gigs as a result of your name being added to their books.

If they ask you for money upfront, then they're ripping you off. Have nothing to do with them.
