My girlfriend has the 12" of Fade To Grey, and I don't think the 12" version is nearly as good as the one on the EP with "Frequency 7", "Blocks On Blocks", "Tar", & "We Move". The EP version has the nice long drum break in it, too...

I'm surprised you can't find that Rapture 12".
I see it alot. Christopher, where are you located at, perhaps I can suggest?
You can also order directly from the DFA records webstore:

That would be cool ... as a matter of fact, add Earth People "Dance" to that list. My copy is VERY well used, so I would not mind a cleaner one.

As for the catalog, no progress yet. Things seem to be going extremely slow in that department. I am hoping things will pick up in the next 2 months. If you have come up with any more, just let me know and we can do business.

Thank you, sir! hail.gif

I know the rapture is not that hard to find but it is on my wants list, i'm sure i will come across it, i will probably get it form the site - thanks for the link.

I've never actually heard the 12" of fade to grey only the lp but i liked what i heard, i imagined the 12" to be better i guess.

As far as the fingers, i would take either but would like the one on DJ Int.

best,

Here are a few I've been especially lusting after ever since seeing them on deephouseheads site:

Capricorn - Pow Pow Pow (ill!)
Dharma - Plastic Doll (fat chance!)
Joe Coleman - Get it Off the Ground (ditto!)
Jane Harris - Long Train Running (again!)
Koto - Japanese War Game (anyone?)

And some others:

URB - Barely Breaking Even
Telex - Raised by Snakes
Stone - Girl I Like The Way That You Move
Raw Silk - Just in Time
Francine McGee - Delerium

You can get that Dharma: Plastic Doll easier if you want the domestic (U.S) pressing. It is tougher to find the System Music one. I agree on Telex - Raised By Snakes. Add that one to my list!

Just got the Francine McGee 2 days ago off eBay for $18 in mint condition. How sweet it is ....

The Stiff was the original I THINK, I could be wrong. The Elektra EP was for the "You gotta Say Yes to Another Excess." album release. My copy of the Stiff release is a picture cover, but the Elekta picture cover has the black and white gorilla from the album cover.

I am gonna have to go back and check for you, Chris. I think it did not have a price sticker on it, and the org jacket is missing (it was just the record and a paper sleeve) but the condition was very good. I will get back to you on that ...

Do most people play the B side? I find the vocals to be amusing. Not good singing in ANY way, but they just amuse me. I was actually surprised at how low I got it for. I was after that one for ages. Good luck on your hunt!

Actually, "Heavy Whispers" is my s**t! I have the original of that on Stiff as well but the Elektra pressing w/Bostich is a little bit hotter, so I have both.

Hey Chris! Do you want me to see if I can find the Elektra preesing while MJ looks for the Stiff pressing? The Eleckta pressing has "Heavy Whispers" and "Bostich."

Lemme know.

c- Just to be on the safe side, I'll do a record check when I get home. I wanna re-check the Elektra pressing so I can see exactly what's on it. Now I'm worried about giving the wrong info.
I THOUGHT "Bostich" was on the Elektra pressing.

Thanks for the clarification JMJ. I found my copy of "Bostich" on Elektra and yes, it does have "Velvet, Words, and Lost" on it as well. It has the black/white photo of the three guys on the cover.

I got THAT one confused with the "Heavy Whispers/I Love You" and THAT'S the one with the guy holding a PICTURE of a gorilla over his face on the front. Sorry about that.

As for the Stiff releases, I have "Heavy Whispers/You Gotta Say Yes to Another Excess" and my copy of "Bostich" on Stiff also has "She's Got a Gun, Downtown Samba and Daily Disco."

Thanks for helping me get that straight.

You can also order directly from the DFA records webstore:

The 12" of Fade to Grey is on Polydor. The maxi also contains The Steps. This version of Fade to Grey is 6:17 long. The dance mix which is on a special EP is 6:55 long. I don't know that version. But the dance EP is worth checking because the version of Frequency 7 is awesome.

Yeah, I bought another copy (1985 orig. on DJ Int'l.) on eBay two years ago for US$15 or so, I believe. I had to snipe a guy at the last minute to get it, though! AR15firing.gif

There was a weirdo yellow vinyl ep with remixes... Which is the original press? I saw that Stiff release the other day at the 2nd hand shop. I have the "weird" yellow press. There is one remixed version that I really like (the Respect Mix, I believe), but it is waaay to short. Can't beat the original ....

magic_juan graemlins/cool_shades.gif </font>
The Stiff was the original I THINK, I could be wrong. The Elektra EP was for the "You gotta Say Yes to Another Excess." album release. My copy of the Stiff release is a picture cover, but the Elekta picture cover has the black and white gorilla from the album cover. [/QB]
You're right. The Stiff label press is the original (circa 1981 throught the Cryptic Corporation).

My girlfriend got her copy (DJ Int, orig. promo) for $22 off ebay a couple years back;
I paid $80 for mine, but I guess that's fair considering it was a SEALED original Alleviated pressing.... ;)

is there an extended version of the ace track? Cool about the Kitty Grant re-edit - I'll have to keep an eye out for that. I see the 7" for sale a lot but never the 12". Dan Idjut Boy is the ony person I know who has one...

As for the Ace 12", i believe it's just the single and lp versions on a promo 12"...

as for the wishlist, it doesn't have to necessairly be on vinyl...as long as i can hear the songs/album, that would do... hail.gif

General Caine -- Dangerous -- 1983 Tabu **

Gang's Back 1985 album on AKO

Hurt Em Bad -- The Boxing Game -- 83(???) Groove Time /this is a rap record out of southern california where the rap focuses on the boxing superstars of the day (sugar ray leonard, roberto duran, tommy hearn) coupled to a horn-heavy, ridiculously funky groove...

Coolnotes -- "Your Love Is Taking Over" (1986)

Sylvia St. James -- Better Things (1980 Elektra)

Phyllis St. James -- Candelight Afternoon album (particularly for "Ain't No Turnin Back") -- 1984 Motown

Merry Clayton -- Emotion (1980)

Perry & Sanlin -- "It's Alright" (1980)

College Boys -- I Get A Rush (1983)

Julius Brown -- Sho Nuff (1985 Society Hill Records)

Alfie Silas -- Communicate (1982? RCA)

Jeanie Tracy -- "Can I Come Over" (1984)

Rosie Gaines -- "Skool-ology (Ain't No Strain)" (1985 Epic)

and these recent ones i can't seem to get a hold of anywhere...

022 NOW ILLUMINATE CLASSEN USHI -- Earth Project record label
AN INVITATION HOME AND GARDEN

and these are the kind of records i fantasize bumping into at a thrifty/flea market/used vinyl shop:)
