Since moving over to a daw. I felt the one thing I was missing was the druming ability I got from my mpc.
I just got guru and I am loving it. To me this is the closest thing to a mpc. I also use stylus rmx & battery. What are other people here using for their drum tracks?

I'm on Reason so the Redrum drum sequencer is great, and when the shuffle option is not good enough for me, I just tap my midi keyboard to get more.

I use Groove Agent One if I need to program drums fast, I also like battery but my favorite is the Reason redrum and the regroove makes them sound lively, adds a human feel.

Hi niteshade
I'm am wondering why you prefer the swing settings in redrum over the swing settings in cubase or even the mpc swing in groove agent one
So many good swing setting options in cubase even the beat designer has in built swing settings?

I have used redrum in reason and I did feel it was simple to program. My main daw is sonar 64 bit I do have sonar on another pc with reason rewired but becasue that pc is not as strong as the 64 bit machine, my go to machine.
I have heard about groove agent but I have never used it. Unfortunatly I can't see the videos here at wk. I will check out at hm. Surpirsed that not more people here are not using guru. There is a lot you can do with it.

Hey Smooth87 -- I Love guru! Was using reason for a long time, and then got hooked on an MPC and now it's a tug of war between guru and the mpc depending on whether I feel like looking at a computer screen.
I hear nothing but good things about Maschine & Groove Agent One though.
What are you mainly using Stylus rmx for? Love the spectrasonics software.

Thanx for sharing the videos brother, to be honest I didn't know that Groove Agent One was this powerful, I was too used to programming drums with Reason (Rewired). I also love beat designer more especially the built in swing and now I don't think I will be rewiring hehe thanx to you brother blackwax <<<BLESS!!!

Hey Ashwell,
I use stylus rmx for injecting loops in to my tracks. The loops are pretty much rex files that are stored in rmx. It's good for realy quick beats and storing your favorite loops also. You can also play the different sections of the rex files from a keyboard as well..

So, is it basically a substitute for Dr:Rex - eliminating the need to rewire?...or does it have better sound quality as well?...or some other benefit?

Pretty much it is a dr rex player but it has a lot of features you can use to retweak the samples. The effects added are very good also. The sound quality is very good. You can do a lot with timing also. For me it is pretty good to go with something like guru or redrum. You can do tracks with just stylus. If you have a huge loop collection on cd or dvd I would say stylus is a must to store and easily call up the loops.

Wow whats up with the Accolades for Groove Agent One. I can't believe people are still rocking that. Wow who would've knew! Not I.
Good lord I own 2 MPCs and I just started reading about Maschine for $600 this thing is a monster. If i ever decide to loose one of them I may have to seriously consider Maschine.

Akai makes midi pads modeled after the mpc. Excellent for the feel of playing in drum parts and not to pricey. Use em with whatever plug in you use in your daw and it's a much more satisfying experience than playing in on a keyboard.

Hey Peoples,
Have any of you played around with the new incarnation of Reason?? I got it not too long ago but I haven't been able to truly get into it. Work is taking up too much of my time right now :mad1: But, of what I've had time to play with, Kong is HOTNEZ!!!!!
I'd love to hear any personal stories, tips, etc.
Reason 5 anyone???

BUT they have a new Device in Reason5 named Kong,
and it has the 16 pad feature like the MPC. ( Never used the MPC, but a lot of friends swear by it).
Plus with Kong, you can program it and tweak any drum sound to get exactly what you want out of it. It's almost good enough to use on it's own.
