Recently, I have migrated away from my MacBook and Powemac when making tracks. Why? Simply because its way boring tired of dealing with VSTs and the only fun I really have is messing around in GarageBand. I missed the work flow of hardware and its reliability. I hate when I figured out something in Ableton only to return a day or so later and forgot how I did it or guess what? That thing I did yesterday with the synth vst that was really wicked, well for some reason its not working today.
So decided to round up some old gear I wasn't using and used that cash to buy Roland JV1080 and some Expansion Cards for it. Why? Well, I have visited few pro studios and it seems that this synth rack is just industry standard. Most of the hardware synths I have had before were more or less consumer oriented and not on much a novelty level. You know the groove-boxes and what not. Another reason is that I have read nothing but stellar reviews from the masses of this old box. The last reason because it fits my budget. 200 bucks and I have already maxed it out.
But I wanted to know from you all here. What do you think about my new acquisition, was this a good move? Anyone here still owns one and if so what are a few tips you can provide a newbie to this series?
