Songwriters & Vocalist Advice Needed Help!

Hey this question isn't really geared towards producing but more toward song construction with lyrics and melody. I am seeking a song smith to assist me. I have encountered major, major writers block and I am in desperate need of help.

I have been singing for a long while been in a few bands and have provided vocals on a few projects for others. Finally, after years of bumping around. On a chance meet I get offered a gig by a pretty well known producer who has numerous releases. I am given a track that is solidly produced and totaly my vibe. After singing indie and rock all my life I feel heres my chance. He, just tells me to give a listen and provide some vocals. I step up to the plate and bam! Writers block!!!! ARRRGH!

Please if you have any ideas on how to get this off my back, I have memorized the track and just haven't been able to nail anything down. I don't want to fake the funk. I want to come up with something just as solid as the track.

Look for a Good Hook and build from that.

Don't force it, you'll only work against yourself. Instead, take as long as you need to listen to the track and don't write anything just listen.

Listen at work, in your car, at home and anywhere else. The more you listen, the more you hum, the more you stert ad-libing and then the writing will fall into place :)

The important thing is to hear the track, feel the track, eat the track, digest the track then become the track!
