Ahhh..the smell of new vinyl (or new to me). I just got delivered to me the "It's Just Begun" LP by Jimmy Castor Bunch with the single Troglodyte on it. I used to LOVE this cut when I was little. My mother used to wear the whole album out.
I also got Isaac Hayes' LP "Hot Buttered Soul".
I want to go home now.
(cough...cough). I'm not feeling well.

*cough cough* eh? i recommend doubling over busted-appendix style! But i wouldn't want that to stir up any bad karma either...that's a tough one...
Oh! Gotta tell you, the phrase "Bertha Butt" is still an integral part of my ol man's vocabulary...some things just stay with you I guess :D

Jimmy Castor is the sh*t. My personal favorite is 'Potential'.

Troglodyte used to get massive Top 40 airplay even way up here in Winnipeg. I miss the liberal playlists some of those old Top 40 stations used to have: from Led Zeppelin to John Kongos to Olivia Newton John to The Sylistics, all in one set.

Chicago had a couple of stations like that when I was growing up. There was WFYR that at one point had a great "classics" format back in the 80s, and they mixed it up all day...something for everybody. That aesthetic in radio has pretty much died as far as I can tell...at least in the States...not to jack Darrow's thread biggrinangel.gif but Troglodyte was definitely one you'd hear on the old style of "mixed" FM stations...

I think I'm going to go home and have me a Jimmy Castor-Willie Hutch-Billy Paul-Isaac Hayes Way Back in the Day fest!
(I suddenly had a vision of the 8 track player we had in the car)
