Hey buddy - I know you. You were both afraid and fascinated by street life. You saw movies like "Breakin'" and "Beat Street" and wanted to be just like those dirty black kids who spun on their backs. MC Serch and Michael Rappaport are your idols.
Problem is, you always got beat up by the people you wanted to emulate. You were tired of explaining the concept of a nuclear family. You got tired of buying all the malt liquor and weed (and why not - your mom only gives you so much allowance). None of these ghetto ****s appreciated your PBS references. And those backspins were hell on your pelvic region.
So And there's the problem: How can I get back at the niggers and be a nigger all at the same time?"
WELL, HERE'S YOUR ANSWER! Just make certain that everyone sees you as the all-around, sardonicly hip white muthafuka in the crew. Camoflague your intention to take those fcuking blacks to task by making certain everyone knows you aren't racist - JUST WITTY!
Make certain you use phrases like:
"I'm not racist. I hate everyone," and "Niggers aren't just black. Anyone can be a nigger." (It's okay - you've had the hots for a black girl and shoplifted once. You can use the word now.)
Make certain you post observations about black people that point the finger through rhetorical questions.
http://www.kkk.com/DzlItem510.jpg
"So...are you saying that blacks don't enjoy fried chicken and watermelon?"
Assert that you have a black friend, family member or church leader and you therefore understand.
And, most importantly, paise those black bitches and bastards who appreciate your acidic scorn cloaked in humor. It makes the other niggers go crazy.
http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/2587/amos1j.jpg
I don't know what the problem is? I thought it was funny!
http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/2587/saphir1j.jpg
Me too! Tell them smat niggas to shut up and let the white boy keep jokin'!
Soon you can move on to all the other races your parents taught you to fear and hate, and those dumb niggers on your side will laugh right along with you.
Take it from me - it works.

I think both films cover what Bold is on about.
I didn't like "White Boys." There's something about Danny Hoch's style that seems really amateurish to me.
"Bamboozled" was the best film of the year it came out...and quite probably better than every film since.

You don't think the topic-starter himself "racialized to the extreme" with the title of his thread? Excluding the argument that there are "niggers" in every race...the word nigger has come to be accepted as descriptive of black people, particularly American black people descended from African slaves. Therefore, any use of the term on DHP is going to get people going. I'm sure if BL had titled the job thread "Interview with a Nigger," it would have blown up in the same way that this one has...
So, how and why is my name in this thread?

But the reference to Tam and Leslie was in bad taste (disrespectful) and reciprocates what Bold was referring to in his original post.
I didn’t comment earlier and am only commenting now because NO ONE ELSE has (a typical pattern here) and is a constant example that while racial insensitivities are constantly challenged on this board, women and derogatory references to them go unnoticed.
I mean those two women hardly resemble Tam and Leslie in any way except that they are both black.

Cautionary,
I don’t believe that Donger is ‘racist’. I do however think he has made some jokes that are not racially sensitive (and I do believe there is a difference between a racist and someone who is racially insensitive).
However combine these jokes with the ones that were ‘ok’ or not particularly about race but still had some racial connotations and you have a pattern of posts that in some way make fun of black people to the point that some have had enough. It’s a shame that a joke that really wasn’t racially motivated had to be ‘straw that broke the camels back’ for others that were.
One thing to clarify though is this whole Kuo thing. The dynamics of that board are different. Because a great many there know everyone personally and it’s a smaller group the tolerance for certain racial jokes is much higher there. But even there, there is a ceiling (for instance, the controversial n word over at kuo is scripted).
There is an extent to which racially motivated jokes can ease the tension between groups and then there is a line past which they cause more tension. That line is not set in stone and can vary between different people and circumstances.
The fact is, its simply a matter of respect that we understand that the dynamics here are different than other places where it may have been comfortable to do certain things irregardless of the intentions.
That’s what I figured out the other night when Gman and TOTO made Kuo comments I and I reacted defensively.

The underlying irony of the Danny Boy situation is why was it that he seemed fully prepared to chastise the Shelter and even when it was disclosed that it was Glenn’s decision and Shelter gave him two opportunities to play that Danny not once, chastised Glenn in anyway remotely like he did Shelter?
And even as a side note…Robbie’s actions (against my opinion) were chastise as being unprofessional and NO ONE questioned whether or not Glenn’s were.

Now the black man must make dramatic theater to illuminate what a simple request to tone shit down could not do.

Might I add that to dare come into the black man's house and discuss counter-politics to those elements in society from which he benefits can be considered racist simply because its so fcuking insensitive that you can't believe anyone could be so stupid to introduce the subject.
But when five black fingers in the form of a fist punch you square in your mouth for being insensitive, the black man will be racist then.

Go back and read my posts in the relative thread. I supported falko's points.

By the way...I think that mhd's career is one of the most respectable professions one could choose, and despite our differences, think that he is a person that has the strength of character to really fight for his beliefs...a rare trait.

You all step in a black man's house to discuss black music and piss on the black man's shoes. This is done CONTINUALLY. See, a few jokes were allowed and, in racist liberal fashion, an inch became a mile.
Now the black man must make dramatic theater to illuminate what a simple request to tone shit down could not do.
But we're all crazy and taking things to the extreme. </font>
Bold—I am not attacking anyone. In fact, compared to the slanders you and mhd have levied against me, this is nothing. I have never attacked "the black man." I have never made any jokes about "the black man." In fact, I have never come close to making the kind of venomous generalizations that you and mhd make about the imaginary group that you see me belonging to. But, of course, that is not "punk shit." I don't know why you harbor so much hatred for me.
Go back and read my posts in the relative thread. I supported falko's points.
I'd like to see examples of me "pissing on shoes."
For clarification: What are the racist jokes that have been allowed?
By the way...I think that mhd's career is one of the most respectable professions one could choose, and despite our differences, think that he is a person that has the strength of character to really fight for his beliefs...a rare trait. </font>
Do your thing. Just don't scuff your shoes as you backpedal.
Stop changing the subject. Deal with the comments at hand. Get over how you have been "insulted" and "attacked" in the past.
I want to know why you CONTINUALLY DEFEND the Dongers of this board when they CONTINUALLY make racially insensitive comments that lead to major conflicts.
You never miss an opportunity to make counter-arguements where groups of black people agree.
You never miss an opportunity to "correct" the thinking of those who judge others for being racially insensitive.
You never pass on an opportunity to characterize those such as Mark B, MHD and myself who have the loudest and most consistent voices against this bullshit.
You are the CHIEF APOLOGIST for them - and that makes you a HUGE part of the problem.

Bold Soul, I can think of a recent racial insenstive post I made, which I already apoligized for because I realized it was bad judgement.
But you keep saying I attack blacks continuously. That's a ****ing laugh.
I would like to learn more about how I continuously attack blacks. As far as I can remember, I gotten a lot of slack for defending whites and pointing out that people here need to stop making generalizations about white folks. And that makes me foul?

MHD once again has the one line
there are forces out there that we should be attacking together
we are all basically down even though we don't really understand each other
there are no real racists on this board cause they wouldn't accept the intermingling of races period (remember Oz and the Ghetto gums)
we are all probably insensitive to some extent about other peeps in terms of sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion
When we as blacks complain about the disrespect we feel its something that white people can never relate too without having grown up black in America (no matter how down you think you are).....its rampant and pervasive and mentally intrusive
And i'm sure that i can never undersatnd how it feels to be white and of good intent and who tries to walk the line of freindship with peeps of other colors while knowing that there is a lot of racial baggage in this country that they didn't statrt but have to deal with its legacy

I don't really think that you and Magus believe that every white person on this board uses the N word around his or her white friends and has a love/hate relationship with black people, so why do you have to insinuate as much?
Well, as I typed the above, Magus made a much better point to the same effect, so maybe this was all productive after all ...

As far as I can remember, I gotten a lot of slack for defending whites and pointing out that people here need to stop making generalizations about white folks. And that makes me foul? The picture of a black man being punched out by a blonde haired-blue eyed white man and the words "Nigga got owned" and the reference to "whitey white white folks" in the Shelter post just capped what I've seen as a progression of racial insensitivity coming from you. That there is a pattern of causing dissention and then sidestepping when called on it only exacerbates the problem. Those whose own insensitive drivel cause problems start defending you and it mushrooms out of control.
Look - this isn't some political debate. I'm telling you that you and yours have to start paying attention to your animosity because if it isn't intentional, it's coming through subconsciously.
As I've said before, that's man to man. Unlike many others, my personality is no different off the board than on and my word to you, man to man, is that you really have to outgrow that shit at some point.

wow, can the dhp negros and dhp god's gift to the negro aka white liberals resolve differences in this thread?
daniel, to answer your question and donger's assertation that he didn't get any hand me downs; i'll briefly comment in 3 ways.
in general these institutions stand to benefit the group in power at the expense of keeping the other marginalized groups out. this doesn't mean that defacto all whites benefit, but that minorities in general do not receive this age old benefit. throw that in combination with the fact that minorites didn't even have basic equal civil rights till 40 years ago, and you still have a very skewed landscape. if you think about it, whites have enjoyed a much more powerful institutionalized affirmative action prior to then, and still do rather discretely in country clubs, frats, business social networks, alumni networks, etc.
additionally, although you, donger, orion, and many, many other whites haven't received as direct a benefit, the option to do so was always there. that option, however, isn't really available to minorities. i condition my last statement because i recognize that yes, a black/asian/whatever guy could join a traditional frat, country club, etc - but it's usually at some personal psychological expense, i.e. you're a sellout, "oreo/carlton", "twinkie", etc.
the psychological damage inflicted on minorites due to the negation of these opportunites enjoyed by the dominant group starts with more trivial things at a younger age. you may be the coolest, smartest, best at sports, pretty/handsome, etc in your own group, but that's not enough when put up against the majority. the more easily recognized soundbite for this damage is the glass ceiling, where you think you can have it all, but you realize you can't because of such factors when you reach a certain point.

because we all have to become uncomfortable with our roles in this society in order to better them, make them more 'equal' perhaps. it's necessary to hash this stuff out this way...i'm glad this thread exists.
i can sit here and say as a white woman, nothing has been handed to me. but i've seen people work as hard as i do and not get as much as i do...
it's important to really be perceptive and pay attention to the subtleties. racism is a continuum...it's not you burn crosses and shout the n word you're racist/ you don't burn crosses and shout it, you're not. we all hold prejudices for anything, it's human. but what's important, is not to walk around denying we are these things. but rather challenge ourselves to see, hmmm maybe i am slightly...i don't like it. how can i change it?

By the way: I am well aware of the unfair advantages my whiteness has given me. Hell...all I have to do is look back on the different ways in which teachers and other authority figures treated me and my minority peers. That same differentiation continues through college, the job market, the loan office, etc. etc.

And i'm sure that i can never undersatnd how it feels to be white and of good intent and who tries to walk the line of freindship with peeps of other colors while knowing that there is a lot of racial baggage in this country that they didn't statrt but have to deal with its legacy Great
Now Im gonna start crying n shit. </font>
but that's good graemlins/thumbsup.gif
because we all have to become uncomfortable with our roles in this society in order to better them, make them more 'equal' perhaps. it's necessary to hash this stuff out this way...i'm glad this thread exists.
i can sit here and say as a white woman, nothing has been handed to me. but i've seen people work as hard as i do and not get as much as i do...
it's important to really be perceptive and pay attention to the subtleties. racism is a continuum...it's not you burn crosses and shout the n word you're racist/ you don't burn crosses and shout it, you're not. we all hold prejudices for anything, it's human. but what's important, is not to walk around denying we are these things. but rather challenge ourselves to see, hmmm maybe i am slightly...i don't like it. how can i change it? </font>
i have 2 kids and had to check myself one day and say "shit, let me not say any anti______ shit in front of them? why cause thats how the hate starts...then i checked myself and wondered why i felt animosity towards _______ and had to admit it was irrational and based on rational differences that i was pushing towards irrational dislike
am i a racist/homophobe/antireligo/mysoginist - to some extent YES
but i got to admit its getting better all the time (won't get no worse)

KNOW THYSELF That right there is a big part of all of this: there's "normal" human bias/preference/framework/whatever you want to call it, then there's subconsciously displaying racist tendencies (different from the first state of mind in that it's often accompanied by the denial, "but he's worse" kinda BS), then there's outright fanning the flames of racial hatred.
SIDE NOTE: My regular gig is owned by an older Chinese guy who emigrated here dirt-poor around 15 years ago. His son, who grew up here, is cool, but the old man's got a real thing for young black kids dressed in "hip-hop" gear, and shows them the door as soon as they walk in (it ain't a great neighborhood). Conversely, I've been in a roti shop owned by a Chinese-Caribbean man, and seen a big dread call him "Missa Chink"...

Well it's all peace and love and agreement and honest observations now, isn't it?
I can remember a few occasions where it was all peace and love and agreement and honest observations before, and we got back around to the bullshit. In the real world, one gets no points for effort. Remember that shit before you post some more insensitive and/or racist bullshit.
As far as I'm concerned, seven pages of posts ain't changin' no stripes. We'll see muthafukas. We'll see.

Does this mean that you don't understand either? Talk about being damned if you do and damned if you don't! I have re-read the entire thread, and I have absolutely no idea. I noticed he responded to MatthewJ's post...maybe he got us confused?
