View Full Version : Kerri Chandler and Ron Carrol in Utrecht this saturday 8 Nov 03
Roll call.... Anyone else going? It's being held at the Winkel van Sinkel in Utrecht, I've been there once and it's a nice spot, by a canal. I think I'll make the trip, some friends from Utrecht will be there.

Sound nice, Utrecht being 1.5h from where I live, it all depends on Friday evening, Jon Da Silva (Hacienda resident!!!) on an acid house night with music between 88 and 92, yummy!
More info on the Chandler-thingy? Directions, cover, spot?
RD
ya bro, check out www.clubrisk.nl (http://www.clubrisk.nl) (which is a nice site actually, "At les" was playing in the background :D ). There is no info on the cover though.

Yo, could you post a flyer and/or the deatils for this. I've got a good friend in Utrecht who might dig it. Thanks.

The address is Oudegracht 158 (the entrance is down the stairs, along the canal. More info: winkelvansinkel@clubrisk.nl / phone number + 31 (0)20 6060 953. Oh and the price is €12.50.

the winkel van sinkel can sometimes be a littlebit to crowded with drugged-up highschool people, but i guess kerri's music will fix all that in a good way ;)
i hope they don't distort the soundsystem the way they normally do though.....
anyway, ron carrol will be performing live, probably his current HOT track with Hardsoul (Roog&bro) ... and don't miss out on Leroy, imho one of the best DJ's in the Netherlands, with a very fine taste for all kinds of "black" music, mixing effortless between garage, house, disco, funk, jazzfunk, quality R&B and hiphop..... he was also DJ'ing in the small room at paradiso last friday when Blaze and DJ Deep where performing there..i heard the small room was much better ;)

Olaf </font>[/QUOTE]excellent!
Regarding djs in Netherland, I quickly heard Leroy and he sounds good, yet I can't judge (but are you saying that cause he's from Utrecht? ;) ). The two dutch djs I had a chance to hear and that impressed me were Cassie6 and KC Da Funkaholic, they both know music and Cassie6 has a good vibe.
Olaf, who was the dj we heard last year at the Rush Hour party that was playing before Carl Craig, was it Roog or was it Aardvarck? That dj had got me going as well.

alex,
aardvarck warmed up for carl craig last year.
played some nice downtempo [mos def, rednose distrikt] in the beginning, and i remember him playing liaisons dangereuses - peut etre pas later on.

I know he was dropping a bunch of broken beat records and then WHAM! out of nowhere pulls out "forevernevermore" out of his ass and the party was on!

that was aardvarck.... roog is more into the latin "deephouse" stuff..not very interesting imho....to shallow.... but who can blame him, he's gotta make a living too and his latest production is the bomb..
anyway, aardvarck is a slamming DJ aswell as a producer...
leroy is now picked up by KC, they play together a lot in paradiso..... cassie6 is always a good pick! amazing uplifting soulfull music..

kerri was of the hook! thanx man! really enjoyed the set..... typical quality house music, house classics and even some amazing disco tracks..... FS system sounded great too and the hammond parts played live on the triton really added something..
ron carrol also made my day! what a voice! and what a DJ too!
shame about the audience though....they don't feel the music, they are there to just show off or something..definately NOT house..... just my 2 cents..
thanks again!

how did it go?
i came by bitterzoet after some shopping @ rushhour on saturday, and checked the calander at bitterzoet to see if j-rocc was still playing there this wednesday, and saw that friday was a blacklabel records night. marsel also performed as jon slocum, or are you involved in that aswell?

it went fine! this was our first live performance, and thus we were a littlebit tense while performing....but the audience really liked it! we didn't have enough time to setup a good monitor-mix and we had some feedback problems with the mic and the monitors, so we didnt use our monitors..thus the sound was not as defined as we would like it, sometimes even a little distorted, but that was the punk-attitude we like..loud and freestyle.....better than arranged into the tiny details...
next time we have to make sure we have a better monitor mix, maybe some feedback-killer and work some more on building climaxes....the audience seems to like it ;)

Watching the video footage seems like that crowd wasn't really into it though.

hehehe.....the crowd was a littlebit shocked..the club was just recently converted from an R&B type joint into something more experimental but the original audience still shows up for a part......so when we came to the stage in our suits and started doing our thing some of the people where really shocked it seemed.....
furthermore, we did 4 tracks we hope will be released very soon, but only one of them is a real dancefloor thing, the other ones are more "songs" and not per se dancefloor material....and another thing: over here people tend to stand and watch live acts (hell, even DJ's!) and not dance to much when a live thing is happening.....
we did enjoy ourselves and we only got positive reactions, even an offer for another gig this week...so that's how it goes ;)
Olaf
I didn't make it :(
Too tired from a helluva week-end and expecting another one to start. Ended up cooking some seafood and watching t.v. with my new russian housemate. I learned there was a little russian enclave between the Baltic countries and Poland that is totally detached from the rest of Russia, that's where she's from. I slept a little less dumber that night... correction, we were stuck watching a tastless Jean-Claude Van Damme movie from 1992 since there was nothing else on t.v., so I'm back to being a punk.

glad you guys had a good time, I knew I was missing something good! mad1.gif
