Question time:

Where in NY can I pick up a USB CD burner for a Mac?

I know CompUSA , but is there anywhere else cheaper?

Thanks in advance.

Is there any reason why you would want a usb burner? If anything buy a firewire burner, which would give you better results. I owned a usb burner and it suck for burning music and files, since it couldnt handle fast speed burning. You can buy at J&R music world, the apple store, datavision, and etc. My advice is for you to buy Yamaha burner, about $150 at J&R music world.

I've been wondering about Firewire CD writers for the Mac. Any particular model recommendations? Are there any required features I should look for? How much am I going to have to spend?

I need a burner to use between both an imac desktop, and a G4 titanium.

I know that USB is good for 'plug and play', but with firewire am I able to swap the drive between computers so easily?

The drive will be mainly for backup and transfer of graphics files, but also for music.

I have a iomega usb burner at home, and I have had no problems, but it is only 4 speed.

Que!Drive firwire and Yamaha, the best in mactown.
Only buy firewire for the CDburner... USB has some loss in writing, and on mobile CPUs (wow, you bastard own a titanium !!! I wish I could !!!!) which are working on batteries, you'll only have problems.

...and if you have time, burn your CDs in 1X speed, with Toast titanium full edition.

No problem Jonny, besides, it was a well constructed and articulate question.
