Who's gonna take it? I'm puttin' my money on Lewis for this one and I think it's gonna be by decision.

Lennox Lewis
40 Wins, 2 Losses, 1 Draw, 31 Knockouts

Vitali Klitschko
32 Wins, 1 Losses, 31 Knockouts

Lennox will put on a boxing clinic. He either wins by TKO or wins a unanimous decision (with a couple of knockdowns of Klitschko).

Klitschko rocked Lennox in the 2nd round and now he starting to do some more damage in the 3rd.

Klitschko's left eye is badly damaged in the third. Lennox is starting to wake up but he's still not as sharp as he should be.

Both of these guys are huge and they're getting tired. Lennox is working that left eye.

K left eye look f'ed up....so bad I think they call in the doctor late...Lewis looks out of shape, like he took Klit man too lightly...two big giants fighting..

In the 5th round Lewis is still sharpening but Klitschko is landing and leading on points. These guys are tired. This fight isn't going the distance.

They're arguing in the middle of the ring. Klitschko earned a ton of respect tonight. Lewis could have been defeated if it wasn't for that eye.

Lewis definitely shouldn't have taken this fight on 2 weeks notice. He took Klitschko too lightly and he almost had a replay of his first Rahman fight.

Klitscko was ready to knock Lewis tha fiznuck out. He was just waiting for the right moment, but that damn eye of his jinxed him. Lewis looked out of shape too. He looked like he'd been scarfing down too many cheeseburgers at Burger King. I don't think Lewis took K man seriously. What a chump! The rematch is definitely gonna be awesome! I can't wait!

I wonder if I would make any money marketing a Lewis vs. Merchant or even a Foreman vs. Merchant fight card. That was funny as hell watching Lewis take the mic from Larry Merchant.

All in all it was a good fight. 2 big men beatin' tha shit outta each other. I'll bet Lewis trains for more than 2 weeks for the rematch! I just don't understand why, at 37, would he risk his health walking into the ring underconditioned. And I'll bet Klitschko trains better on how to stay away from Lewis. He said that he saw every punch coming, and that Lewis didn't land any hard right hands, but looking at the left side of his face tells a different story.

The time that it takes for Lewis to get in shape and for Klitshko's eye to heal is going to be filled with hype! Now we just have to see what Roy Jones wants to do.

alright, who's gonna call Klitschko a p**y now?
Did you see how he took that huge right handed blow to his chin in the 6th round? that would have been the end of the fight loads of other guys.
stopping the fight was a joke. Klitschko's eye was barely swolen

it was a bad cut but if you looked at him after the fight it didn't seem that his vision was that much limited or covered by the eyelit. i saw worse (e.g.Michalczewski vs Hall)

btw, before the fight i was slightly pro lennox

Lewis/Roy Jones will be bigger moneyMan...this fight should not even be considered by the Roy Jones camp.

Ruiz /= Lewis.

I think Roy Jones would be a bit out of his league stepping up to Lennox.

Good heavyweight fight for the sport. I hate European fighters anyway. They are a bunch of pussies!!!!! I hate Lewis even more. He is the most shit talking unlikable person in the sport. That is why the fans were boooing him. The only thing Lewis has working for him is his trainer, who is the best in the world. If Roy Jones catches a Lewis as out of shape and upprepared as Lewis was tonight, Jones is gong to wax dat ass, and I will cover all bets on Jones anyway.

By the way, **** Larry Merchant in his drunk ass!!!

I don't think the fight was that great. Both fighters were not sharp and Klitschko did not step up the pressure when he had Lewis hurt in the second. Klitschko performed better than what most expected him to do but by no means was this Ali/Frazier.

I find it odd that the fight was stopped without a doctor looking at him in the corner. His cutman was working on the eye and I saw no doctor in site before the fight was stopped.

Lewis was winded but started to warm up and was landing some crucial shots, including an uppercut that nearly took Klitschko's head off. He took the shot well but the effects would have shown in the later rounds. Your legs can't recover from shots like that especially when it's coming from a 256 pound man.

Back to this stopping of the fight. Someone in the higher office called a stop to this fight I think. Because although Lewis was not in top form, he was starting to heat up and Klitschko was not gonna go the distance. Don't believe the hype. But Klitschko well exceeded expectations and someone saw the BIG PAYDAY in that. If they let the fight continue, Klitschko eventually gets knocked out and there is no money. But by stopping it, everyone gets caught up in the hype and then comes Don King, sorry, I mean the big bucks. So needless to say, Lewis vs. Klitschko II will be on Pay Per View.

good points, gfkamfsb, three points though:

Manny Steward said he was happy to get Klit as a replacement for Kirk Johnson, because he saw Johnson as a difficult opponent since Johnson's plan was to run all night and have lennox chase him, which would have been a great strategy given Lennox' poor shape, "flagrantly poor condititon" is the way merchant called it.

this fight would have been on ppv had they made it in time

Klit was ahead on all cards, more importantly, lennox could have just as easily got knocked out by Klitschko given how fatigued Lennox was, remember he has gotten dropped before by right hands

Constantin

agreed mhd, i think Klitschko's stamina would have put him ahead in the second half of the fight. he didn't even breath that hard at the time of the stopage. what surprised me more ( takin his akward style into account ) that he even outboxed lewis most of the time.
would be interesting to see what Wladimir K. could do in the future, he's the better boxer - stronger, more accurate and more versatile.

"The fact that he said it was a headbutt disappointed me," Lewis said. "There were five separate cuts on his face - you don't get that from one headbutt.

"He's crazy...I gave you 60 stitches tonight - take that word (headbutt) out of your vocabulary."

Lennox escaped because of Vitali's eye jammie. Lennox did rock him with a boomin uppercut but Vitali held up. Lennox bloodied him bad, but his conciousness was not in jepordy. Lennox fell onto his stool after punching after the bell. He would NOT have made it much further. The most energy Lennox showed all night was when they announced the fight was over. Lennox HAS to given Vitali the rematch or that victory will always be marked with an * !!!!

You’re right his consciousness wasn’t in dispute, but if there was anymore work on that eye from Lennox, he wouldn’t have been able to see that right coming in and that would have been sick. Granted, Lennox has had much more efficient fights, but he did a job on the night

The last time he went into a fight in that condition, actually better condition than last night, he got knocked out by Hasim Rahman. If they have a rematch, which they should, Lennox will be far better prepared and will beat Vitali up proper....But Saturday he got over because he was not ready for the fight and Vitali was not the pushover Lennox thought he would be. Lennox ruined Vitali's chances for Hollywood though!!!!

It was funny seeing two big, lumbering giants slugging it out and falling over each other. I loved when Lewis held Klitschko and hammered his rib cage. I was cringing with every blow. The fight was good but it would have been much better had Lewis been in proper shape.
