I don't believe that a damper like this improves the tone arm's performance. The tone arm's jeweled pivot points provide all the damping that's necessary -- the less the better.

The only time that more damping might be a good thing would be if the tone arm tracks at heavy stylus pressures - 3 grams or more. And then only MAYBE.

The SME tone arm does not have this kind of damping. If damping was needed you can be sure the SME arm would have it because the guy who invented it fully understood the problem and left nothing out of his design. Nothing.

Why is it that everyone tries to reinvent the tone arm, when the tone arm, invented long ago, works so well when it is designed and built properly by any of a number of companies?
