Ok so basically what I want to do is I want to use an external hardware FX unit (EFX-1000) in my productions but I dont want to stick it on the main bus and route all audio through it, can I use a send/return type scenario with my current audio interface? (Emu 1212m)? Since have grown up with most of this shit being in the box I am a little puzzled about how to physically patch in an external hardware unit (in this case EFX) into my DAW and have it so I can bounce audio out to it (and back into the DAW) in an easy fashion. I know this must be a super noob question but alas I have always used plugins on my return channels. Any info / tutorials would be much appreciated!
My DAW of choice is Cubase 5 / Ableton
On a seperate note I also own a UREI 1620 and I would like to use this in my productions, mainly to just run my final audio parts through and get that UREI 'sound' on it. Is there a way I could hook it up so that I could choose what bits of audio I would send to one of the channels on the UREI and then back in into my DAW after the Urei has added its special sauce?
