You are totally debt free including the mortgage.
Your stock and real estate investments have done well and you are sitting pretty.
You have just come from the personnel office where you have told them that its been fun and you appreciate all the opportunities but you are so outta here.
What ya gonna do now with your life ? graemlins/grinyes.gif
Gotta run to a meeting but will be back with my response graemlins/bolt.gif

I kind of had this situation last year. Newly single with a house and a tired job. I hit ebookers.com and bought a one way flight to Thailand. Nice smile.gif
I'm now back, a year later, and poor. Working for a living again but wishing I was sitting on a beach or clubbing in asia.
No regrets though, it was great.

I would open up an accessories shop which would feature my custom made jewelry, but I would be closed during the month of February as I take that month to spend in either St. Martin or some other exotic locale where I have my second and third homes. :D
Ahh to dream...

What would I do?
Too much stuff to list...the list now is in the hundreds...nearing 1,000. Ive thought about this question in detail on every day of my life since 1996.
Mainly I will be a philantropist. My goal is to build wealth in order to give it away to those in need -- I will fund numerous social causes. I will build several massive, humongous brick and morter institutions that promote Christian education and helping others that are less fortunate.
Of course I will travel the world, help my friends and family enjoy life and buy tons of stuff, but my main objective is to give it all away and help others

Gotta run to a meeting but will be back with my response graemlins/bolt.gif * pinch myself so hard that I'd cry like a baby
* travel for a bit
* go buy some music
* go back to school to study Sociology and Psychology
* open a facility that focuses on low-cost counseling/therapy/mental health services for teen mothers/fathers, particularly inner city ones.

Gotta run to a meeting but will be back with my response graemlins/bolt.gif 1) Run and play tennis everyday
2) Spend three months traveling to various Caribbean islands.
3) Start a "Bridging the Digital Divide" organization in my community to help African American families keep up on all this computer stuff. The organization would supply new computers and classes free of charge.
4) Open up a Art Gallery for Linda and other artists to display their work.
5) Start a business in personal financial planning

Impossible to interpret the context of a post. Didn't realize you were serious.....JMJ ;)
Man, I would spend my time studing the tax code so that I could hold onto all that.
For instance, capital gains is taxed at 28% (different for not term vs short term, but I not sure what one the 28% applies to).
With no mortage, your not going to have any deductions to slap onto the back sheet of your 1040, expect property taxes.
Man ya'll better thing. its not about gettign the money, its about holding on to it.
After sitting pretty, the first thing I would do is see a tax/estate planner.
Only after you've figured out how to hold onto it, THEN do you go out and live off it.
Peace

Start a part time business, incorporate and you can solve tons of tax problems. Then you can use pre-tax dollars instead of post-tax dollars and it will be easier to hold onto your money.
Personal income (read: income from a job) is ALWAYS taxed at the highest rate. In additoin, taxes from personal income are taken out FIRST and then you spend the remainder (less bang for your buck). If you incorporate you can spend your money first - which in turn lowers your taxalbe base and therefore your tax committment. In addition, incorporation give you more flexibility in terms handling capital gains; you can defer and sometimes eliminate.
The first thing an estate planner is going to do is stress the importance of incorporating, setting up a trust or two and recommend some insurance products. Depending on how much wealth you have and the state you live in, he may recommend a Nevada Corp and/or incorporating offshore.

I would start a nationwide chain of beautiful, spacious in-city wellness spas that would have treatments by day and alcohol-free club dancing by night. Kind of like the beauty salon/restaurant in that movie BAPS. My vision could help change the world by providing the less fortunate a way to cope with the stress of having to go to work and worry about the bills.

Seriously though, how much "relaxing" and "holidaying" can you do before becoming totally bored?
Personally I'd be starting my own business. And it wouldn't be anything to do with music - you might as well be flushing your cash down the toilet...

I think in the end people have a basic need to contribute something meaningful to society. People need to be needed. I find it hard to believe as well that someone could just live a life of leisure.
