lets play a game

write down 3 things that you will accomplish within 1 year...do it publicly here on the board so that you have plenty of witnesses as well as peer presure...let your mind run wild and see if you can avoid your fantasies fruition

of course this game isn't for the weak

i will learn to salsa and be in jacked shape by wmc 2004 and i will have my son reading by May 2004

1. stay off drugs. realized after one night that i just couldn't continue any more like this because it just wasn't fun anymore and it seemed like i was doing them for all the wrong reasons. and so far, i haven't touched them and the hard liquor that i loved to consume since may. and i have no desire to go back to that.

2. transfer schools.

3. eleminate every credit card i currently have. i've said this many times in the past but enough is enough. there should be no excuse why i still have these damn things, especially with the amount of money i make. on a side note, i'm so glad that financial thread was bumped that day Gman did because it was very informative and quite the eye opener.

and i definitely agree, great thread, magus. and i'm glad i actually got to write these goals down and really let them sink in and make me realize that i need to get certain aspects of my life in order.

Mark, thanks for the reply....you hit a nerve with the post.

I was speaking with a co worker the other day and mentioned that when you are just about to leave school and taking your exams, speaking with career advisers etc...to find out where you want to go/or what you want to be...you are still a KID and do not really know what you want, your kinda pushed in that direction....

More and more you find people in there late 20's early 30's realising WHAT they want to do and going back to college / uni to realize there dreams / goals because they now know what matters and what will enable them to be fulfilled(sp) cause at the end of the day don't matter how much you get paid are you happy when you get home.......and as for most part they are over getting fcuked up etc...

Doug from 95 North comes to mind off of this board

I will ...

1. Have all of my bills except my mortgage and associated monthly bills paid off within the year.
2. Have a Korg Triton in our studio.
3. Learn how to use said Triton as something other than a pretty peice of decoration.
4. Be a registered publishing company with ASCAP and getting some film/tv licensing.
5. Have at LEAST our next two 12" out and in stores, either on their current home label or somewhere else, by any means necessary. I'm shooting for 4 releases total but we'll see.
6. Be enrolled in SOME SORT of online degree program.
7. Be blazing my new residency in DC @ Red and banging it hard enough that people will start coming @ 11pm instead of 3am.
8. Fly my grandmother and mother up to DC (first class of course .... neither have ever flown, and my grandmother has never been anywhere but the south).
9. Have at LEAST the internet based section of our record label online and running flawlessly.
10. Pay my fathers mortgage off and help him do some needed maintenance repairs on his home.

There are more, but thats a good start. The others might not happen, so I ain't putting it out there like that smile.gif

Peace

Mine:
1. Begin integrated marketing communications consultancy: Decided forgo this; taking too much focus away from main goal, which is to....

2. Open my own boutique featuring women's funky clothing and accessories, fitting sizes 10-22 (the thick and juicy chicks). Progress report: Have selected biz name, in process of incorporating here in IL and applying for trademarks (for boutique and private label clothing line); attended trade show in Vegas, where I 1.) ordered some duds and accessories to sell via trunk shows; and 2.) met with vendors and designers interested in supplying me with goods for my targeted demographic groups. Have also secured verbal (which ain't isht 'til we ink deals/exchange $$, but hey) commitments from a couple of young designers to produce a private label line for my spot. Working on selling my goods via trunk shows this fall and winter in a couple of trendy boutiques around town in Chicago.

3. Be fit and off b-pressure meds: woefully behind on this goal. It's soooo easy to use current gig, entrepreneurial dreams and personal life as an excuse not to work out and to eat too much. Inspirational info welcomed.

However, this past weekend I took the opportunity to go to Montreal (5hr drive). Not only did I stay awake on the drive there, I took no drugs to sleep and on the way back, I drove half way home and I was cool as hell.

I am so elated with myself for facing a huge fear and overcoming it. Sometimes you just got to make it happen or it just won't. Magus, I think I hit the moon this time :D . The stars are next ;) trains and planes  </font>
Overcoming a phobia is always an incredible achievement. Plus, you regained a certain amount of freedom. Planes & trains are next! </font>
Woo Hoo!!! graemlins/cheering.gif

2. I asked about buying my old flat, my landlord said OK, in March 2004. Works out we will save approx 30K UKP on the flat we did look like buying, too.
3. Steady progress.

1. Watch Working Underneath become the industry standard (multiple successful releases on multiple major labels consecutively)

2. Launch independent label (2nd quarter 2004).

3. Challenge, wrestle and defeat Discogoddess in a no holds barred steel cage match.

#1 Go back to school...
#2 Finish my screenplay, "TAINTED LOVE"...
#3 Be financially stable...

Everyday that goes by, these three things seem harder to achieve...

2. transfer schools.

3. eleminate every credit card i currently have. i've said this many times in the past but enough is enough. there should be no excuse why i still have these damn things, especially with the amount of money i make. on a side note, i'm so glad that financial thread was bumped that day Gman did because it was very informative and quite the eye opener.

and i definitely agree, great thread, magus. and i'm glad i actually got to write these goals down and really let them sink in and make me realize that i need to get certain aspects of my life in order. so far, still sticking to #1. not really a big deal to some and i can definitely see that but it's a pretty big accomplishment for me since i've been snorting coke since i was 15 off and on. and the last 3 years i was probably doing it every weekend. when i stop and think about it, i can't believe i did that shit to my body.

#2 hasn't been accomplished yet because i need a few more credits and i actually killed a couple of cards for #3.
