I'd love to make a manageable checklist of what we as empowered citizens of the US - in a country that is ultimately by the people, if the people choose to take up their role and act, if the people choose to empower themselves - can actually do to effectively protest this war, and that would promote effective change to the staus quo.

I've got some to start out :

1) To get the impeachment process going, all it takes is 1 couragious congressman to introduce articles of impeachment to the congress. I say we find that congressman. I say we organize local citizen groups to lobby our congressman. Maybe ours is the couragious one. The articles of impeachment can be found at www.votetoimpeach.org (http://www.votetoimpeach.org)

2) General worker's strike starting Wednesday. Don't contribute to the wealth-building process of your employers starting on Wed. and periodically throughout the next few months of the war.

Remember, this really is now a matter for US citizen groups to take charge of and lead. The only people that can stop Bush is the US citizens. The democrats aien't gonna do it. The congress aien't gonna do it. All the anit-war people in the world and the pope himself aien't gonna do it. It can and it WILL only be us, the citizens of the US who are gonna take the lead and take this guy, and this administration out of politics. It's the citizens that shall lead and it's Congress that shall follow, like the lapdogs they always prove to be.

So let it be here and now that we organize our methods, our "plan of attack".

We must have our own attack plans now, for now, the administation in power has its plan of attack set out on our civil rights as well as for Iraq.

(And let's remember the effects that can come from a Grand Old Party-led judicial nomination process. Because that is around the corner.)

oui.

why, where do you live?
you see, I'm talkin to the US people here. It's my shout out, but we can make a seperate list for citizens of the world too? It's just that the US citizens have a special responsibilty is all.

you understand that, of course, right?

oui.

i would like to briefly mention culture jamming as truly "live and up to the minute" as our press...

like for instance, get 8-10 friends with cars and, with signs on the back of the car, simply drive next to eachother and stop in the middle of your local "beltway", or other major access road.

ok, i'll read. but I'd love to get more thoughts from people about this question about what we can actually do.

from the article ...

But by 2010, we should create a grassroots movement for real reforms -- such as non-partisan commissions using non-political criteria for redrawing district lines, or better yet, proportional voting systems that allow voters to actually choose their own representatives. What a concept!
