A friend of mine is hooking me up with an old unit, a 500 celeron I think.

Anyways, Ive been shopping around online for some motherboards, some memory and most likely the AMD athlon 200XP+ or whatever..

So anyways, anyone have any experience doing this sort of thing and if so, have any pointers?

I have assembled a few comps before with this one job, but pretty much kind of just gonna play with one as I go along...

I just wanna set it up to be able to handle some audio software and also upload and download stuff with a cable connection.

I might need to peep some new soundcards as well.

450 WATT power supply how much did all this roughly run you?

If it is realistic, then I may just end up replacing all the main components (motherboard, sound card, vid card, memory, pcu).

The best thing to do is check a web site like pricewatch.com for current prices on the individual components.
