A friend told me that "the better my sound card, the more distortion I will hear on MP3's". Is this true?

Any other recommendations (ram, HD, etc. ) for this studio PC setup?

I got a Dell but I tell ya,
this internet connection is so damn
poor that I am actually scared to
download mixes....(.Sorry Vinny from Pitt...
send a disc if you'd like..)..

Make sure you got DSL I say, although the sound card is important.

I bought a Dell about a month and a half ago and I'm very happy with it. No problems with MP3's with the standard sound card, but I will be investing in an external sound card soon, simply because I need one with Midi ins and outs. I bought the 2350 and customized it.....JMJ graemlins/thumbsup.gif

DSL is a must if you're going to be downloading MP3's. I'm probably gonna switch to DSL in the next couple weeks myself....JMJ

Any other recommendations (ram, HD, etc. ) for this studio PC setup? What I would do:

1 Do not get a celeron processor based pc
2 512MB of RAM or more
3 100Gig or larger HD,
4 64MB or better Video card,
5 19" regular tube monitor or 17" Digital Flat Panel for more visual real estate.
6 I don't know about the sound card. My sound blaster Audigy works for my needs.

-G </font>[/QUOTE]I know more is better but I was looking for advice on the component types. Some Dell packages have DDRAM, R-Ram, etc..., and I know there are different types of HD, Bios, video cards, etc... unless the basic package will do.

Thanks everyone!
