Does it make you feel like ... yeah I knew that record was dope (good feeling) or are you like Damn I already have this(disappointed). I've heard people say stuff like "Shit he aint playin' nothin' I already got all that shit. Some may fell like it's a validation that they are buying the right music. For me it's a gas to hear what I bought already when I'm out because I only buy what I have listened to at the store and not because I heard it was supposed to be dope or you heard it and then buy it. An example for me would be when I was in NYC a couple years ago and while I was a t Shelter @ Vinyl Timmy played "Via Minha Triestesa(sp) by Tom & Joyce. I had bought that record like maybe a year prior to that and had Never heard anyone in Chicago(my home)play that record. To see the positive crowd response was just a good feeling and on the inside I was like "I knew it". Just curious.
Peace

Same here Rich.If I have something that a big name jock drops and I know it's not big here,it let's me know that I have not lost my ear.Hell, even it's it's a local jock, just to hear someone rock a cut I liked,is cool by me.

I am not a record geek,I just like music. graemlins/grinyes.gif

Nah. I'm more interested in crowd reaction than anything else. I've got a great ear for music, so I know what I buy is good, otherwise I would have left it alone. It's nice to hear someone with a similar ear....JMJ

It makes me feel pretty good when I hear the big namers playing tunes that I have in my collection simply because I enjoy hearing certain people come up to me saying, "Hey, don't you have that track?" And those are the same people that thought it was crap when I played it, but now all of a sudden they love it cause Mr. Big Time Super Star DJ is playing it and it's ok when Mr. Big Time Super Star DJ plays it cause it obviously must be good. What's with that shiz? Why do people do that? If it's good music, then who gives a rat's ass about who's actually playing it.

Peace</font>[/QUOTE]Gotcha both. It's kinda funny to see a crowd somewhere not feel a song a jock plays, but you add your touches to it and some of the same folks react likes it's their first time hearing it.

That always bugged me out.Seeing folks react to tunes has always made me end up playing a tune I thought was nice, but not a snap off tune. That's the whole purpose of jocks going out to parties,to have a good time and to see what the masses are digging.

My own friend pulled that on me once. I played a cut at my house and he looked at the record like it had the plague and I was at a party and the same record was played by one of Chicago's finest and my friend was on the floor "Doing shows". The song was "Hit the O-Deck" by "Pigbag

for me it's a combo between, "i knew it was good" and "oh, i'm so pleasantly surprized that you like this too" especially when they sneak some bjork in.

When I hear a big name DJ play music that I have?

It's a sense of relief like "YES I GOT THAT"!!!

It feels good to hear ANY DJ play records I've bought -- I couldn't hear it on a good system, otherwise! :D

I do recall Tony Humphries playing Summertime Blues the exact day I bought it. When that sort of thing happens I think: When I get turntables with pitch control, I'm gonna be just like him someday. graemlins/rofl.gif

PeaceHello Richierich ,

Nice question bro it's a nice feeling no doubt when you hear some of your peers playing those records, especially one's you felt quite strongly on at the time you discovered them .Another question that usually follows on in my mind was how the record was played/presented and how differently I would of played it . By the way have you got any recent mixes up on the site ? .

Peace Alex

Yes I like when a big name plays a track that I have especially when they beat that sh8 like I would (which is rare) but I digress...
However, if a big name DJ does not play any of the tracks that I have I in no way feel that my ability to select good music is diminished.

Believe it or not I have actually heard a big name DJ do the exact same mix of 2 tracks that I had previously done which made me feel really good (particularly since that big name DJ is one of my biggest inspirations). graemlins/OLA.gif

On the other hand if they play a track that I have but don't play it right (the way it should be played IMHO)then I am even more upset. mad1.gif

Agreed, makes you think that some people are dancing to the name of the Dj rather than whats coming out the speakers. Actually I know this is the case I have seen it, people going crazy to a record that they hadn't budged to the previous weeks when it's been played. baaaaaaaahhhhhhhh !
