Carl Craig is perhaps the most universally respected producer in the techno universe. Of the Detroit pioneers he is one of the few to continue to innovate and experiment through the last seven years.
There can no longer be any doubt that he is one of the most imaginative & skillfull dance producers on the planet. In the ongoing African-American tradition of re-invention and re-imagination, Craig is someone, like Miles Davis, for whom electronic instruments are a starting point for wondrous, musical experimentation at once organic and inorganic.
Carl Craig has adopted a series of multiple musical personalities beginning with Psyche (for 1989's "Crackdown" single on Transmat) and stretching through 69 (1991's pivotal "Four Jazz Funk Classics" predicated a whole new direction for techno) and Paperclip People (responsible for huge dancefloor successes with classic singles like "Throw", "The Climax" and "The Floor"). All around the world, Carl Craig has made a difference in the way people perceive and listen to modern music.
