In the case of disco, even of social dance in general, popular memory seems curiously selective. Could this be because the sound of disco and post-disco music is essentially black, and its sensibility essentially gay? And because things black and things gay are still having trouble being marketed on Broadway, on TV, even in print? Let's remember that John Travolta's character in Saturday Night Fever is neither African American nor gay.
Indeed, if we also remember that in the United States, the discourse on both African Americans and gays as segments of American society has long been marked by periods of either sensationalism or social pathology (at times both), it isn't really surprising that the overall tone of the recent treatments of things disco (and, to some extent, post-disco) has tended to be correspondingly sensationalistic and/or pathological. It appears that many producers and writers, even in academic quarters, continue to pursue an almost obsessive interest in the deviant elements of night life -often at the expense of the music and the dance- but pay little attention to the creators and consumers of disco, house, or rave music, the dancers, and the DJs. In all, the majority of the current crop of treatments of disco and post-disco phenomena has done little to supply its harvesters with enough historical context to do the subject justice. By and large, those who were instrumental in creating the disco phenomenon, as well as those who carry their torch today are still being denied recognition.

i write in logic audio for the moment, use a ob dx drum machine (sometimes) and sampled drum kits. from random 80s drum machines or 80s funk songs. (most have stripped back drum breakdowns). i use alot of vsti's for synths atm, and run them through amplitube to seduce any digital virgin noise. there is a killer addon for the FM7 with banks from dx7 synths i have been loving recently :D also the arturia arp is very cool.

I don't like the DX7 bell sound though... too Paul Hardcastle for me. Love everything else though, I would play this.

http://choqolat.org/mp3/touch.mp3 :D YO.... this shit is hot to fucking death. Seriously.

I can see this song being a major player in my rotation, especially for one specific weekly gig.

You got anything else like this ?

You got anything else in this vein at about 110-115 bpms up to about 120 bpms ?

can I get a remix of that "live" joint slowed down some ?

Seriously... this shit is hot.
