Hi Everyone: I am putting together a small home studio in which I would like to do several things:
1. Produce drops/commercials/promos for djs/radio stations/etc.
2. Produce beats of various styles from house to hip hop to drum & bass to whatever. Need to be versitile.
3. Do remixes.
Can somebody help me with some suggestions/recommendations on what I what type of software, hardware, mics, etc to make this become a reality? I am already doing a little production work for a radio show on XM Radio. I record all of the audio at a radio production room and than take it home to edit. I would like to do everything at home eventually.
Currently I have Cool Edit Pro 2.1, Pro Tools Free, Acid Music, & the latest Sound Forge. I have two Pentium III computers both of which I hope to connect to each other. I have a free version of FruityLoops which I have been playing around with trying to decide if its worth buying or not.
Any advice would be appreciated.

JorgeG: I appreciate the leads. Thanks a whole lot. I am sure that this will guide me in the right direction. I will come back when I have some more specific questions.

man, you're asking a loaded question.
so many dif't programs will work for you.
it's REALLY a matter of which program works
well with YOU and how YOU create.
Logic is great... it comes (now) with pretty much all the plug ins and vsts created or approved by Emagic that you'd ever need.
Cubase is great
for live stuff, Nuendo and Pro-Tools are great (tho' Pro-Tools some say have lack-luster MIDI capabilities)
Reason and Project 5 are good, too, for work-synth stations ...
Then you have Sonar... who have consistently beated Cubase and Logic (sometimes) in various computer mag reviews ... but is cluttered (interface-wise)...
my best advice (and no one ever takes it), is to download the demo versions of all the ones i named... ( i dunno if ProTools offers a demo version ) ... and try them out.
I do all of my stuff (lately) in Reason, ACID, and Project 5... most people woudl scoff at my configuration... but that's what works FOR ME...
but a dif't config might work for you.
they are all top-notch quality programs.
but none of them will help if you ain't got the talent.
