Copyright????

Is it true that you can copyright your track by sending a copy of a tape, cd, reel-to-reel, etc. to yourself via mail???

I've always wondered if this was false.

How does that work if it is true?

that way u can proove u had it before the one that ripped u off... keep the envelope closed.

that'll work but usually first commercial use wins also unless of course someone has an envelope with a postmarked date before the commercial release date.

This is not true where i live, there have been too many false evellopes.
In my place you go and see a law man/woman and for approx. 30$, he/she will put it in a enveloppe that is legally recognized as the original thing (may it be writing, music, invention...)
