Thinking about getting Pro Tools for the home, but I want to start off low key, maybe about $3000.00 range.
Any Suggestions on this?

For 2500 you can get the digidesign 002. Check out digidesign.com for more info.
Guitar Center music shops usually have a protools setup for customers to check out.

Olaf Well, I just want to go another direction and see what I could do with Pro Tools. Besides, I'm re-doing my Home Studio.
