Does anyone have this VST plug-in or know detail about it?
I have heard/played with this VST in the Guitar Center and I like it. I originaly went in the store to buy a sound module but the sales man introduced me to this.
Can anyone give me good advice on the pros and cons on having this VST plug-in other than an actual Sound module.
I am looking forward to getting something that will add to my sound collection.
anyone?
Thanks in advance! hail.gif

well, they are cheaper...they take up less space.
sample tank is nice...comes with some good sounds and you can always use your own sounds too, which is great.
also, if you are traveling from studio to studio you can always load the program and use it whereever you are.
if you are mostly interested in expanding your "sounds", once you get a program like sample tank now all you have to do is keep on finding new samples/sounds. this is great too because alot of sound modules have alot of the same sounds...so sometimes you are dropping a grand on a equipment in which you are only using part of that piece of equipment. plus modules and keyboards come with extra stuff, with respect to sequencing and effects that you may never use or already have something better to use...
but! sound modules look cool when they are in a rack sitting by your setup. smile.gif
but dude, get sample tank.

but dude, get sample tank. Cool Mat.
The sales man was selling me on the saving space thing and yeah modules do look cool in racks. I am trying to keep the little space I have so Sample Tank would be the move.
I am also asking what else can it do? I read that you said it plays samples that I get from elsewhere? (CDs/downloads etc.)
On the site it also mentions advanced time stretching and states that the chipmunk sound doesn't exist in this program. How much better is the time stretching function thean Soud Forge, Acid pro 4.0 and Cubase SX?
I have time stretched many tunes up and some of them just don't sound good at all. I haven't tried to time stretch down but I have been told that its much easier and keeps a better tone. I am hoping this program can eliminate my time stretching issues as well as satisfying my search for more sounds.
Do you have/use Sampletank Mat? If so, I would like to know so I can ask the right people for help at times and once I have learned the program others can ask me for help.

ive used sampletank a few times. i have not done much more than use it as a module...i have not used the effects at all.
i have not loaded my own samples but i read i a mag that you can...
my point was that i would go with the software now, instead of the hardware, generally speaking.

Cool Matt.
I am feeling this plug-in and it does have some phat sounds.
It was also put to my attention that you can buy additional sounds for this program, which makes it expandable. Now that’s something to think about.
I will decide by tomorrow if I will invest into it, which I probably will.
I'll keep you posted.
Once I load it on the computer I'm sure I will want to do some of the functions that you have not touched on yet.
Whatever I learn I will be happy to share the knowledge.
Thank you Matt.
I do appreciate your input and advice!

yo keith another drawback with software to consider is that if you have a slow system, the all-software route can bog you down
however, i agree it's hard to suggest someone invest in hardware sound modules these days, and as long as you have a decent system i'd say go software as well.

I have to remember your gift come Christmas time! :D
Before I conducted your advice I went out and bought more ram and here are my current specs.
P4 2.8Ghz processor (800Mhz front Side bus)
1Gig Ram PC2700 333MHz
120G Hard Drive 7200RPM
Should I be experiencing this problem with plug-ins or rewire files?
Just to get you more insight to my issue.
The file I was rewiring had two wave loops and I am not sure how long they are but I was only using about 8 bars of the samples, which the loop is definitely longer then what I'm using. I probably should shorten up the sample because maybe this could be the problem as well.
Anyways after I put the Ram in it cleaned it up but Not ALL of the glitch. The glitch sound was noticeably less.
BTW. This was the only file that has this problem. All my other Reason files don’t have this problem and they too have wave sample in them. Like you said I should work with it till I figure out this problem.
After reading your response I then dumped the audio samples into Cubase and from there, the track was on point with no glitches in the project. (Right on Brian) graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Although I want to be flexible in all aspects that my project may go I know now that I want to max my PC out to 4Gigs of Ram. Hopefully that will assure that I have no glitches in the future. You think?
Thanks Brian!

All I have to say is SampleTank2 is the sssshhhhhhhhiiiitttt!
This VST was definitely worth buying. I am glad to say that I didn't get and external sound module because this software is not only a sound library but also a sampler that reads WAV,AIFF, SDII, AKAI S1000/3000& SAMPLECELL…. DIRECTLY FROM THE PLUG-IN…. WOW!
I may have jumped the gun on this software because I found out that the Motu Mark Five sample was a hot item as well that reads a lot more out board gear.
The Mark V reads:
Motu MarkFive (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=040412052553158057150226244530/g=dj/search/detail/base_pid/706429/)
Specifications:
Soundbank
Import formats: Akai S1000/S3000, Akai S5000/S6000, Akai MPC2000/MPC3000, Roland S7xx, EMU III/ESI/IV/EOS, Tascam GigaSampler/GigaStudio, Emagic EXS24, Digidesign SampleCell, Creamware Pulsar STS, Steinberg HALion
Compatible audio formats: AIFF - mono, interleaved (2, 4, 6 channels); AIFF - Separate files: 2 (stereo), 4 (quad), and 6 (5.1) channels; SDII - mono, stereo interleaved; SDII - Separate files: 2 (stereo), 4 (quad) and 6 (5.1) channels; WAVE - mono, stereo interleaved; WAVE - Separate files: 2 (stereo), 4 (quad) and 6 (5.1) channels
Sample import formats: Kurzweil K2xxx, Akai MPC .snd, Creamware Pulsar .s, WAV/ACID, AIFF, SDII, REX
Channel formats: mono to stereo, mono to quad, mono to 5.1, stereo, stereo to quad, stereo to 5.1, quad to 5.1
Plug-in formats: MAS, VST (Mac & PC), RTAS, HTDM, Audio Units, DXi
All though I could have bought this item instead of the SampleTank2 I AM NOT MAD with SampleTank's flexibility and sound qualities.
This just means that the Motu MarkFive is next on the list. (May 2004)
To anyone that has SampleTank2 or the Mark Five Sampler software please feel free to exchange a few words with me as I look forward to conversing with you and sharing the knowledge along with technique.
Thanks in advance and good luck on all your projects!

Keith do you already have a big sample library?
If not, I'm not sure how important it is to have a sampler that can read all those formats unless there is one library only available in a certain format that you feel you must have. I've never felt that way about a particular sample library.
Also have you checked into Native Instruments Kontakt sampler? It's definitely worth a look.

I have Akai Mpc2000 and some Roland EPS sounds on disk. I'm not pressured to use them but I would like to know that I am flexible. Also I have access to all them formats and I think its good to have as many sounds as possible in any studio setup.
If I find myself in a situation with formats my programs can't support I would then load them in Extractor and save them to a format that I can work with.
As far as other samples (wav files) I have a lot of them. Different snips here and there. I created separate folders on my HD for:
Samples
Loops
Vocals
refills
and the list goes on.
The Kontakt sampler I saw in the Guitar Center while I was checking out Sample Tank. I didn't pay it any mind to it because I was concentrating on Sample Tank. Though the sales man in the store did mention it to me. I will check it out the next time I go to the Guitar Center. I go to the store maybe 3 times a week because it’s just down the street from my job.
I like going in there because I can test a product before I buy it. I played with sample Tank for like two weeks before I was sure I wanted it. And I am glad that I did get it because after having it for four days I see that Sample Tank was really worth the money.
For example:
I can home yesterday about 5:30pm. I got on the computer and tested some of the features I read in the manual and in 2 hours I had a nice track. In 2hours I was able to insert 7 instruments and sequence them to a playable degree, which I gave the track a test run on my Cyber Jams Show last night.
People who were on my IM did take interest on asking what was the track I was playing. I was smiling! :D
Anyways I am still building my library and as I said before "more available sounds the better I think?
Thanks Brian….

Keith I guess what I was getting at is that the format support wouldn't be my main priority when choosing a sampler (most software samplers support a fairly large number anyway) ... I'd be most concerned with whether or not the sampler was one that I thought I could work best with.
Here are the formats supported by Native Instruments Kontakt:
AKAI™ S-1000/S-3000, EXS24™, EXSP24™, REX™, HALion™, Gigasampler™, KOMPAKT™, INTAKT™, SampleCell™, SD II™, BATTERY™, SoundFont2™, LM4™, AIFF and WAV up to 32 Bit and 192 kHz

Thanks in advance. </font>[/QUOTE]hypersonic is Steinberg (and sample makers Wizoo) software answer to f.e. the roland JV-range ..... aim was to make a compact and high-performance VST-plugin with lots of sounds which can be used to write entire tracks with...... there are also some expansions for it now, f.e. a hammond B3 emulator and a subtractive virtual analogue synth module....

LOL
The fact that it reads more file than Sampletank is hot. Now that I have SampleTank I am pleased but as you point out I will be limited at some point.
I will be going back to the GuitarCenter this week and hopefully I will find someone that knows the program to give me a demo.
Thanks for the advace even though Im late on it but the more sounds I have the better,,, Im still going to invest into the Motif just to have it.. I have been playing with lately..
Peace
